Our Wedding

In June 2022, we connected on Hinge with an instant spark. We planned our first meeting at Borealis Coffee on the East Bay Bike Path—a simple coffee date that seemed promising. But sometimes the best plans take a detour. I arrived after biking for an hour, only to realize I'd parked in a two-hour zone and was running out of time. Rather than risk a parking ticket, I had to make the tough call to cancel. We were disappointed, but Ciera had other ideas. Instead of giving up, she suggested we meet in Newport—she'd been wanting to visit the beach anyway. It felt like a sign. I rushed home to change and headed to Surf Club, where I was to meet Ciera. What started as a casual beach bar date turned into hours of conversation, laughter, and genuine connection. As the evening wound down and I walked her to her car—which happened to be in the complete opposite direction of my apartment—I realized I didn't want the night to end. Just as I started my walk home, Ciera pulled up beside me and asked if I'd like a ride. I said yes, and everything changed in that moment. Adventures TogetherFrom that first detour, we learned that the best moments come when we're willing to adapt and explore together. Over the years, we've traveled far and wide—Croatia, Japan, San Diego, Ottawa, Niagara, and Sarasota—each trip adding another chapter to our love story. We discovered that Ciera has a wonderful talent for redirecting our plans, always knowing exactly where we should go next. In May 2025, we found ourselves in Sardinia, Italy. True to form, Ciera had a hiking adventure in mind: the Gorupu Canyon. What followed was what I still affectionately call "the death hike"—2.5 hours of steep downhill terrain just to reach the canyon floor. I complained the entire way, and Ciera got pretty upset with me. What she didn't know was that every complaint, every groan, every "why did we sign up for this?" was carefully orchestrated—a distraction to keep her from suspecting what I had planned at the end of the trail. As we made our way to the back of the main trail on Thursday, May 22nd, surrounded by towering canyon walls and the beauty of the Italian wilderness, I got down on one knee. Through the breathlessness and the adventure and all the laughter we'd shared, I asked Ciera to spend the rest of her life with me—sharing in all the adventures to come, together. She said yes. And the rest is history.
