Steven and Anna first met at a street fair in Campbell in May 2022. Steven thought she was super cute, but didn't expect to see her again: Andrew had invited Steven and Kathleen to the street fair, but Anna got invited along as Kathleen's roommate, and she didn't go to West Hills San Jose - just the sister campus, West Hills Morgan Hill. (If this is confusing, just think of West Hills San Jose and West Hills Morgan Hill as Capulet and Montague in this story, except that nobody drinks poison or has an age that ends with "teen".)

Anna doesn't know that she made the first move, but she did. A few months after that day, she started going to a Bible study with people from West Hills San Jose, because it was a more convenient location to drive to on weeknights. That Bible study also had a Steven Winsor conveniently located. Steven took immediate notice, but not immediate action.

It was a slow process of getting to know little bits about each other. Anna still went to West Hills Morgan Hill on Sundays, so there was only a brief window on Wednesday nights that Anna and Steven had to exchange conversations or quips before the night was over. It took about a year for Steven to decide to risk making waves in a small church. An agonizing few months after that, he actually succeeded in asking Anna out. (It's not easy to be out of earshot of 15 of your closest friends when you're at the Camachos' house.)

They got tea on a 90 degree Sunday afternoon, in an air-conditioned tea shop on the same street in Campbell where they had first met. Since they finally had the chance to talk together for a decent amount of time, they discovered they had more interests in common than they knew. More than just tea. Over the next year they shared many walks, dinners, game nights, crafts, dances, anxieties, struggles, prayers, blessings, worship nights, out-of-state trips to sibling weddings, family holidays and birthdays, busy times, and quiet times. They watched God be faithful, kind, patient, generous, wise, and good - all year. Anna eventually started attending West Hills San Jose on Sunday mornings, and has been mourned at West Hills Morgan Hill ever since, but Steven is not giving her back.

After a very busy summer, 13 months after they started dating, Steven bought a ring with the help of a trio of birdies named Tabitha, Kathleen, and Sarah who had access to Anna’s Pinterest board. Steven told Anna that she needed to teach him some of the line dances that he didn’t know, because it looked like she was having lots of fun dancing them at his sister’s wedding but Steven didn’t know how to join in yet. It was imperative that they learn these dances outside of a quaint little historical house in Santa Clara. It only took 25 minutes to learn a few songs - pretty short for a date. For some reason, Anna was blindsided when Steven got down on one knee and pulled a ring out of his pocket.

Anna said yes.

They still have a couple of dances to teach each other.
