Brett met Sue via an online dating app – Hinge. To the prompt, “What is your life goal?” she wrote, “To build a family where we would be known for authenticity, kindness, and generosity.”. He swiped right, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Brett grew up in the city of Clark, Missouri - with a population of 298 people, while Sue grew up on the bustling historic island of Penang. They were born on different continents and grew up speaking different languages and eating different foods. Yet, fate has it that these two met in Connecticut and have an immediate connection.

While Sue introduced Brett to Asian cuisines (he loves dim-sum), Mandarin, and the world of a surgical resident, Brett taught Sue to be kind and to ask for help. They both enjoyed working out together and playing with their white German Shepard, Luke Bade.
