Below are a few hotel options, but please feel free to stay wherever you prefer. Fresno also has a wide selection of Airbnbs, so you can choose whatever makes the most sense for you. We recommend arriving in Fresno by Thursday, October 8th, to make sure you can join us for the Sikh Wedding ceremony, which starts promptly at 9am on Friday morning, October 9th. Accommodations should be booked for at least three nights in total. If you have any questions or need assistance with bookings, don’t hesitate to reach out to Suki or Mia!

We’re so excited to celebrate our fusion wedding weekend with you! We want all of our guests to feel comfortable and confident knowing what to expect at each ceremony. Below are a few helpful guidelines for attire and etiquette.

Sikh Wedding Attire

The Anand Karaj (Sikh wedding ceremony) will take place in a Gurdwara (Sikh temple). Modest dress is encouraged: Out of respect for the sacred space, guests typically wear modest, semi-formal or traditional clothing that covers shoulders and knees. Head coverings: Everyone (men, women, and children) is required to cover their heads while inside the Gurdwara. Shawls for women and bandanas for men work perfectly. Bandanas will be provided for men on-site before the ceremony. Shoes: Shoes are not allowed inside the temple. You will be required to remove your shoes before entering the Gurdwara, and there will be a designated area to leave them. Colors: Feel free to wear bright, celebratory colors. Sikh weddings are full of joy and vibrance!

Etiquette

Seating: Traditionally, men and women sit on opposite sides of the temple, and all guests are seated on the floor during the ceremony. The space is softly carpeted, and the ceremony lasts approximately one hour. We want everyone to feel comfortable, so please keep this in mind when planning to attend. A very limited number of chairs will be available at the back of the temple only for our elderly guests. Respectful silence: The ceremony includes prayers, hymns, and readings. Please refrain from talking or using phones during this time. Food: Before the ceremony, there will be a light breakfast and chai (tea) provided. Following the ceremony, everyone is welcome to join us for Langar (a community meal). A Sikh tradition symbolizing equality and togetherness.

Women's Attire

Women often wear traditional Indian outfits such as a Salwar Kameez or Sharara suit (a long tunic with loose pants) or a Saree (a draped fabric worn over a blouse). To browse online, try searching:“Indian wedding guest outfit for women”, “Saree for wedding guest”, or “Salwar Kameez for women.” You’ll find a wide variety of colorful, elegant options — anything bright and festive is perfect! Just make sure shoulders and knees are covered for the ceremony, and bring a scarf or shawl to cover your head while inside the Gurdwara. We will not have extras available at the temple, so please be sure to bring one with you! It is also perfectly acceptable to wear a modest formal dress or pantsuit. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and ready to celebrate with us!

Men's Attire 

If you’d like to join in the spirit of the celebration, men often wear traditional Indian attire such as a Kurta Pajama (a long tunic with fitted pants) or a Sherwani (a more formal, embroidered jacket-style outfit often paired with slim pants called churidars). You can easily find options online by searching:“Men’s Kurta Pajama for wedding”, “Men’s Sherwani outfit”, or “Indian wedding guest men’s outfit.” A regular formal suit is absolutely fine too! You'll see a lot of guests in formal suits.

Catholic Wedding Attire & Etiquette

Our Catholic wedding ceremony will take place in a traditional Catholic church. The mass will be approximately 45 minutes - 1 hour long, followed by our reception afterwards. Please join us in honoring the space by dressing modestly. For women, long cocktail dresses are appropriate and men can wear suits. We kindly ask to remove any hats upon entering.

Yosemite National Park

Located ~1.5 hours east of Fresno. See General Sherman, the world's largest tree, and hike the Congress Trail to see more giant sequoias!

Sequoia National Park

Spend the day wine tasting along the Madera Wine Trail, with eight wineries to visit just outside Fresno.

Madera Wine Trail

Known as "The Tower," this is the go-to spot for bars, breweries, and nightlife. Mia &amp; Suki's favorite spots: Goldstein's, Howlin' Wolf, Irene's, The Lincoln, Sequoia Brewing Company, &amp; Veni Vidi Vici. Highly recommend to Uber or Lyft!
