Our love story began at one of the most historical places in Southern St. Marys, the Green Door. Our mutual friend, Jayne, encouraged us to meet one another on Pizza and Pint night. The night started like any other, with drinks and pizza flowing. As awkward as we were, neither started a conversation until Jayne stepped in. Turns out, it was not because Ryan did not want to, he just was not sure which blonde girl I was out of the two of us(Emily Heikkinen and I). We talked and to me, sparks instantly flew. Shots were ordered, pizza was eaten, and overall the night ended up in setting our next date at Pier 450 where Ryan would eventually get cut off after his one Budlight and one orange crush since I so happily punished a bottle of wine.
For New Years Eve we wanted to switch up our typical plans. Ryan suggested St. Michaels, Maryland and I thought, hey why not! We had a great weekend shopping, eating, and of course enjoying cocktails. To my surprise at dinner, my parents showed up out of the blue, which I found out Ryan had planned. To me, this was special considering they were married on New Years Eve. On actual New Years Eve day, we celebrated by enjoying coffee, the scenic water views, and of course more shopping. We ate dinner at the BEST Italian restaurant and enjoyed ourselves some delicious wine. When we got back to our place, we started a fire. Ryan disappeared and I thought nothing of it, until he came out, said my entire full name (you know what that means), and was down on one knee. Being who I am, I babbled and could not stop talking to allow him to even ask me the question! As soon as he did, of course I said yes and cried like a small child. We enjoyed the rest of the evening around the fire celebrating the new year and honestly, it was nothing short of perfect.
