Q + A

What should we wear?

The dress code for our wedding is dressy casual - think sport coat/blazer and pants for men and dresses or separates for women. Keep in mind you will likely be outdoors for part of the evening, and in early September it could still be warm. The venue is also set on a hill and the ground is uneven in spots, so ladies you may want to leave the stilettos at home!

Are small humans welcome?

Yes! Bring your kids if you'd like, just let us know how many on the RSVP. Susie tried to set up the online RSVP so you can indicate how many you are bringing, but if you have any issues with the online RSVP just contact David or Susie.

How do I get to the venue?

Your GPS should guide you appropriately, but the venue is a bit off the beaten path so we will have directional signage starting at the corner of US Hwy 63 & Co Rd D65. Please note: You will have to travel approximately two miles on gravel to get to Fox Ridge.

Where should we park?

We will have signage to direct you, but the majority of guest parking will be available in the lot across the road from the winery. We plan to have immediate family members park behind the winery to allow more room for guest parking in said lot.

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony will be outdoors and held in the gazebo at the vineyard, so be sure to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, etc. if needed. The social hour and reception will be indoors and outdoors. There is a large room indoors which will be set up for guest seating, a covered patio with additional tables/chairs, and more tables/chairs and bistro tables outdoors near the gazebo where a band will play for the reception. We will not have a set seating plan, so the idea is for our guests to find whichever spot(s) are most comfortable for you!

What happens after the ceremony?

We expect the ceremony to end about 5pm, so have planned our social hour from 5-6. The bridal party and family will be taking pictures nearby, and guests can head indoors to the winery for a beverage and light appetizer. We will also have a 'Guest Relations' table near the winery entrance where you can take a picture and sign our guest book or fill out advice cards (we'll take any advice you want to give!). We also plan to have a few yard games available if you want to work up an appetite before feasting at the reception.

What are the plans for food and beverages?

We would like to keep the exact food plans a surprise to our guests until the big day, but there will be two types of cuisine offered which should accommodate even picky eaters. This will be served casual/buffet-style vs. a formal sit down dinner. For beverages, we will provide a complimentary offering of Fox Ridge wines as well as a few beer/seltzer choices. There will also be plenty of water and soda available for all.

Are there hotel blocks available for guests?

Yes, please see our 'Travel' page. We have blocks at four hotels in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area, all of which are 30 to 35 minutes from Fox Ridge. This is your best bet for lodging, as there are not any other hotels between the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area and Traer, where the venue is located.
