Sydney had moved with her family to Queen Ct. in 2008 where she started as a freshman at Arvada West High School.Calvin officially moved to Colorado in 2009. He was a freshman at Arvada West and lived within walking distance off of Allendale Dr. and Queen Ct. They didn't realize they were neighbors until half way through the year when they would run into each other walking to school. Sydney remembers thinking, “WOW, what a cute freshman...but I'd never have a chance..". Little did she know, Calvin felt the same way. He even made a bucket list freshman year with his best friend, Blake, and on this list, one of the "To-Dos" was "Find our Elaine". They each had a girl who they referred to as Elaine from the show Seinfeld. To them, Elaine was a cool chick who hung with the boys. Sydney was Calvin's Elaine. Unfortunately, throughout High School, life did not allow them to date, but they became great friends. There were nights Sydney would come home and Calvin would be arriving home as well. He would walk over to Sydney's car to see how her day went and they'd talk for several minutes and sometimes as long as an hour. They car pooled to bowling class together and were on each others team their junior/senior year. This was just the start of them becoming a "team". They never lost touch when Sydney graduated. Not even when she moved to Lakewood in 2014. It wasn't until Sydney moved that Calvin tried to make a move on her. At the time, Sydney didn't want to ruin the friendship. She didn't know why she was scared to grow their relationship, she had liked him for a long time. Luckily for her, Calvin didn't give up. Finally, Summer of 2015 was the summer that their love started to bloom. Calvin asked her to be his girlfriend August 1, 2015, the reason why they chose their wedding date as August 1, 2018. They had been waiting so long for this moment and it was finally happening! At first, they had their worries about ruining such a good friendship, but this friendship is what has kept their love blooming. In January of 2017, Calvin got down on one knee while Sydney was sitting in a hammock on a rock cliff in Kauai, Hawaii. Of course, without hesitation, she said yes!!!
