We met at the rehearsal for our best friends' wedding (thanks Megan and Kasey!) She was a bridesmaid. I was a groomsman. We talked, we laughed, we danced. I loved her kind heart, and she loved my smile (although I'm pretty sure it was really my wicked dance moves that got her).
Fun fact: Eric and I have never lived closer than 130 miles from each other! Eric is finishing engineering school in Laramie, and I'm a nurse in Denver. We have both put several hundred miles on our cars, and have driven through many a snow storm to see each other. But the countless hours of traveling has always been worth it! Well, except for maybe one time when Eric had to drive through a literal flood, but he stuck it out anyways. Eric is my rock, and he keeps me grounded. I also like to think that he keeps me around for more than my medical knowledge and cooking skills!
When you think of proposals, you probably imagine a perfectly kept secret, followed by a display of romance and love. Well, at least I got the romance and love part down. Although I tired my hardest, my absurdly secretive and downright nervous behavior for weeks in advance may have given it away. Despite this, on a weekend trip to Crested Butte, CO, I popped the question during a lakeside picnic (after arranging a totally inconspicuous facial, massage, and manicure for Sydney). Was it a surprise? Probably not. Either way, she said yes at 10,000 feet and made me the happiest man in the world.
