To really appreciate this love story of Cameron O’Neil and Sydney Davis, we have to put ourselves into this setting: Downtown Iowa City. College Halloween party. The sound of your shoes crunching off the ground from spilled jungle juice. Sounds like the perfect setting to find the love of your life, right? Well, the answer is yes! The spark of interest came when the birthday girl (Sydney) strutted over to the penguin (Cam) and asked if he wanted a shot of the finest whiskey: Fireball! Cam, of course, could not say no to Sydney in her birthday suit. Record scratch clarification: Sydney was just wearing an actual costume of a “birthday suit” to indicate that she was dressed up as a birthday girl. However, we’re still saying that Cam got to see Sydney in her birthday suit on the first night.

The two lovebirds spent the next few months playing a game of cat and mouse. Cam would ask Syd’s friends about her feelings towards him, but Sydney would play the “hard to get” card and keep dragging him along on the roller coaster of love. Finally, the two made a commitment in the spring of their senior year to meet for breakfast—we knew Cam was really interested then because he doesn’t even enjoy breakfast! After their first date, the two would find any excuse to meet up: bike rides, runs, or a rowdy night out on the town, Cam and Syd found any and every excuse to be together. Of course, Cam made a dashing first impression on Mama Davis when they went to Brother’s Bar & Grill; after all, there’s no better way to show a mother you are the perfect match for her daughter than ordering Cherry Bombs for the table!

Before the couple knew it, they were spending all their time together. But as their flame was burning high, it was time to graduate college which also meant it was time to move out of Iowa City! Sydney had already accepted a job in Madison and Cam had originally planned he was going to be applying for jobs in Colorado; however, what he didn’t tell Sydney was that he secretly started applying for jobs closer to where she would be. What he told her instead was that he decided he wanted to be closer to home. We’ll, much to Sydney’s surprise, one day he told her that he accepted a job in Milwaukee, which marked the start of a new chapter for them.

Since then, their lives have been full of adventures such as being dog parents, home ownership, living #vanlife, traveling across the continent, bike and snowboard trips and everything in between. Wherever their adventurous lives take them, we know one thing about their next chapter: there will be lots of smiles and drinks along the way :)
