Sydney & Michael

Redmond, WA

Springtime. Sunshine. A light breeze. Laughter in the air over a farmers market. Adorned in a bright sundress, fair Sydney Day strolls by with a parasol and a wicker basket. Also searching for local fare, strong-jawed Mike Scholl assuredly struts through vendors' stalls. Fate was smiling on these two as they reached the pickled herring stand at the same time and bumped into one another. Fortunately, they -

As if. It was 2017. We met on a dating app, swiping right on each other's wit and incomparably cute smiles. Our first date was on an overcast October evening at a brewery with Sydney in flannel and Mike in a raincoat. Very Seattle. Mike was worried Sydney would think he was a cripple after picking up a limp two days earlier at the Chicago Marathon. Sydney was trying to figure out how to politely avoid drinking beer while on a date at a brewery.

Well things must have worked out, because after that first date Mike and Sydney have built a lovely life together. They found cool breakfast joints. They snuck flasks into movie theaters. They bought and renovated a house (including hanging that damned chandelier). Mike got Sydney up a volcano and then watched her trip and slide back down. Sydney nursed Mike back to health after his lung popped. They planned a trip to Europe but instead stayed home for a year because a stupid bat gave us a global pandemic. They battled Sydney’s cat Hobbes for a sleep-filled night. All of this led to Mike giving Sydney a ring on Christmas morning 2020.

That's the long story of why you're being asked to trek all the way out to Redmond on August 13, 2022 and to indulge our vanity and maybe snap a good pic or two.

The short story is: we love each other. We can't wait to be married and we can't wait to celebrate with you all.
