Our Story

Peter and Sydney’s journey began in the fall of 2016, when they met through Ohio State’s Sailing Club. What started with shared rides to practice, party hangouts, and a few late-night study sessions as lab partners quickly blossomed into a close friendship. For a while, they played it cool—maybe too cool. Their friends certainly thought so, often trying to give fate a little nudge as Peter and Sydney continued to orbit each other with unmistakable chemistry. Then came one movie night in 2018. Peter invited Sydney over to watch Top Gun, and by the end of the night, they both knew this was something more. Turns out, Top Gun can be pretty romantic, as they haven’t lost that lovin’ feelin’ ever since. From there, their story took them through a year of long-distance while Peter was in grad school in Canada, Sydney holding down the fort (and the Yacht Club), moving in together, and adopting their beloved monster of a cat, Skipper. In 2023, on a rainy day in Niagara Falls—at the top of a ferris wheel—Peter popped the question. And Sydney said yes!

Sydney met Becca in 2016 through Ohio State’s Sailing Club, and they instantly clicked—kindred spirits from the start. Becca was one of the very first friendships Sydney made in college, and she’s been by her side ever since.

Though they now live several states apart, their bond has only grown stronger over the years, filled with laughter, long phone calls, and visits that always feel too short.

Sydney couldn’t imagine saying “I do” without Becca standing beside her.

Becca Fuss

Peter has known Cam and Chris for as long as he can remember. When asked by Sydney to write about how they met for the wedding website, Peter replied that not only could he not remember meeting them, but he couldn't remember a time when they weren't his best friends. Whether it's playing baseball together in Cam's backyard, eating enough salt water taffy to make them sick on Cape Cod, or road tripping to concerts and hockey games, Cam and Chris have always been at the center of some Peter's favorite memories. Though they now live in different corners of the country, every time they're able to get back together its as if the three of them have never been apart.

Lane and Sydney “met” in 2001—when Lane was born and Sydney gained a sister to torment.
They’re the yin to each other’s yang: different in plenty of ways, but always finding common ground (especially when there's a Diet Coke nearby). Lane’s energy, humor, and hot gossip have been a constant in Sydney’s life—and their sisterly bond only grows stronger with time.

Abby and Sydney have been friends since childhood. Sydney was often found right by Abby’s side, and that early closeness turned into a lifelong bond.
Even when life takes them in different directions and time passes between visits, their friendship has never wavered. Abby’s steady presence and baseball betting tips have been a constant in Sydney’s life—which she's deeply grateful for.

Abigail Noser

Abby and Sydney have been friends since childhood, with a friendship that started with a chest-bump gone wrong. Their bond only grew stronger when they both attended Ohio State—eventually becoming roommates during their junior year.
Abby’s infectious enthusiasm and vibrant spirit have been a constant source of joy in Sydney’s life. Through every stage of their friendship, she's brought energy and laughter. 
Bonus fact: Sydney wouldn't have met Peter, Becca, or Hannah if Abby hadn't dragged her to that first sailing practice.

Abigail Johnson (Novak)

Sydney met Hannah in 2019 through Ohio State’s Sailing Club. Even though it was Sydney’s senior year, their friendship clicked instantly—and they’ve been close ever since.
Hannah has a knack for bringing extra fun and energy to every moment, and she’s always been the perfect partner-in-crime. Their favorite shared pastime? Yapping over espresso martinis, of course.

IMPORTANT VENUE PARKING UPDATE! 9/9: There's a large public, paid parking lot across the street from the venue (in the same lot as the Cleveland Aquarium). Please contact Peter or Sydney if you know you will be parking at the venue. We will provide you with a QR code to scan in and out of the lot (otherwise you'll have to pay concert event prices). Please visit the FAQs page to see where the designated spots will be!

We have two hotel blocks in Cleveland. Both are within a 10 minute drive or Uber ride to the venue. Please let us know if one of the blocks fill up and we can contact the hotel to add more!

If you want to walk to the venue, you should be able to take the water taxi that's right by the Aloft (the venue is right across the river). Just keep in mind that the water taxi closes at 8pm.
