One of five national wildlife refuges in Rhode Island, Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge is home to 242 acres that offer an important stopover and wintering area for migratory birds in Middletown. Situated on the coast overlooking the ocean, a hike at Sachuest Point is relatively flat and easy, and offers scenic views without having to climb.
Sachuest is special to us, because that was one of our first dates!

Situated at the mouth of the Newport Harbor, Fort Adams State Park offers an exceptional panoramic view of both Newport Harbor and the East Passage of Narragansett Bay. Before being deeded to the State of Rhode Island in 1965, Fort Adams had served the U.S. Navy for ten years and the U.S. Army for more than a century. Today the park offers a wide range of activities, including tours of the historic fort, saltwater bathing, fishing, boating, soccer, rugby, and picnicking.
Its common to see Dunkin and Hazel frolicking in the big fields. Both James and Sydney love attending the annual Folk Festival held in the summer. Dont forget to keep on folkin!
