It all began on February 17, 2023, when Luke was on a date at a Parker McCollum concert in Omaha, Nebraska. To make a long story short, the date didn’t go well. After his date walked off, Luke turned to the woman behind him—who he thought was in her 50s—and jokingly said, "This is one of the worst dates I’ve ever been on." Little did he know, that woman had the perfect match in mind for him. She described Luke’s ideal girl: tall, a former college athlete, and a nurse living in Omaha. On a whim, Luke gave the woman his number, figuring nothing would come of it.

Fast forward two weeks to March 4, 2023, when Sydney finally decided to reach out to the stranger whose number she'd been given. She introduced herself to Luke, mentioning that the woman he met at the concert was actually her mom’s best friend, Melinda.

Luke and Sydney quickly started getting to know one another, and just two weeks later, on March 18, 2023, Luke drove to Omaha to pick up Sydney for their first date. They went to The Good Life Sports Bar for drinks and dinner while watching March Madness basketball. From that day on, they began making regular trips between York and Omaha, savoring each weekend spent getting to know each other better.
