Sydney and Joel met in 2018 working at Brazen Hall Kitchen & Brewery. Joel worked in the kitchen, while Sydney worked as a hostess. During a busy dinner rush, Joel accidently poured hot oil onto his hand, which provided the opportunity for Sydney to finally speak to Joel ("ouch, that looks like that hurts") which obviously did not lead to an in-depth conversation. However, the two managed to hit it off during one of the weekly staff outings to Bar Italia, when Joel and Sydney were sandwiched into a booth and talked all night long.

Sydney and Joel started as co-workers which led to friends and then became best friends. Through the coffee dates, walks, cabin trips, spending time with each others family, and playing sports together; their bond has only grown stronger.
