There will be two hours of open time between the conclusion of the ceremony and the start of cocktail hour. Our Things to Do page on the website has several exciting and interesting places you can explore during this time! However, if you're still adjusting to the altitude, a nap may be in order. Please note, if you choose to explore Rocky Mountain National Park during this time you will need a reservation to enter. There will be light snacks and drinks at the cocktail hour as you return from your adventure.

Our Wedding

You might think this story begins in Iowa since that’s where most fairy tales are set, but despite both growing up there we didn’t meet until life took us both to Colorado. At the time, Sydney was midway through her medical residency and Patrick was transitioning from the Army.&nbsp; This love story started with a cup of coffee in January of 2018. As we both lived in the beautiful Capitol Hill neighborhood of Denver, it was easy to find excuses to keep seeing each other. We quickly discovered a range of shared interests including travel, the great outdoors, faith, and family. Before we knew it, Patrick was living in Denver full time and Sydney was applying for a fellowship in Oncology at the University of Colorado. Over the years we have travelled across the U.S and Mexico, shredded the slopes, made new friends, spent time with family, had many adventures, and fallen in love. We are looking forward to you celebrating our wedding with us!

Will COVID impact any events?

We continue to hope COVID will not impact our wedding celebration in any meaningful way. As of yet, neither the church nor the reception venue have imposed stricter COVID precautions; however, if this changes we will update this page accordingly. We will have some masks available throughout the day should you feel more comfortable wearing one. Please note, some businesses in Estes Park may require masks on top of state and local regulations. If you have not yet gotten vaccinated, please consider doing so to protect yourself and your family.

I'm coming from the lowlands, what do I need to know about visiting the mountains?

There are several things to think about when coming to the mountains, here are a few considerations: 1. Altitude. Higher elevation means less oxygen in the air. You may feel tired more easily, whether or not you have a predisposing medical condition. If possible for your schedule, acclimating to the elevation in Denver prior to coming to Estes Park may prove helpful. Altitude sickness can strike any person at any time, especially if you travel higher into Rocky Mountain National Park. If you find yourself with a headache, nausea, or otherwise feeling unwell at altitude it is best to move to lower elevation.&nbsp; 2. Humidity (or lack there of). We're not in Iowa anymore. The lower humidity in the mountains means keeping yourself hydrated is more work. We recommend taking a water bottle with you when out and about, doubling the amount of water you would normally drink. You may also notice drier skin while in the mountains.&nbsp; 3. Weather. Weather in the mountains can change quickly, be that rain/thunderstorm, snow, or wind. Dressing in layers is generally recommended. You may also notice higher sun intensity, so consider using sunscreen.&nbsp; 4. Wildlife. Estes Park in the fall is known for its herds of elk. It is quite likely elk will be moving around town during wedding weekend so you may need to leave extra travel time in the event of a road block. 5. Alcohol. With the altitude and low humidity you may notice alcohol hit you harder than at home. We encourage you to drink responsibly, use alternative transportation if necessary to and from the reception, and stay well hydrated (see point #2).&nbsp;
