Brian and I met January 2019 at a (postponed) ugly sweater Christmas party at my sister-in-law’s best friend’s house. I was there with my (now) sister-in-law and brother, and Brian was there with his fraternity brothers. I was at the party that night to be set up with another friend of theirs.

Brian arrived late and a little frazzled to the party because he stopped on the interstate to pull a family out of an overturned vehicle (luckily everyone was ok). I was sitting at the kitchen table and remember seeing Brian walk in with his friends. I had already decided I didn’t care to be set up with the other guy I was originally there to meet, and once I locked eyes with Brian, I knew I wanted to talk to him. Brian says in that moment, he thought I “was the prettiest girl in the room”. (Awwww!) We spent the rest of the night talking on the couch, playing “Heads Up!” with our mutual friends, and hanging out with the family dog, Penny. I wish I could say the rest was history, but Brian and I “ghosted” each other after that night for the next 15 months.

Fast-forward to April 2020, Brian and I reconnected on Hinge, an online dating app. I messaged him first, saying “Hey Stranger!” We went from Hinge to FaceTime rather quickly as we started dating. Our first in-person date was at Babalu once restaurants began opening again after the Covid-19 lockdown. We talked until the restaurant closed and the staff were stacking chairs on the tables. I knew right away that Brian was going to be someone special. And truly, from that night on, the rest was history!

We officially started dating in June 2020, and Brian proposed May 6, 2022.
