Our Wedding

If you ask Sydney, our story started in September of 2019. When I needed a junior year homecoming date( this was life or death at the time), I went to Instagram and posted a poll asking if anyone wanted to be my date. After the post had been up for a couple of hours, I went and checked who had said yes. There were answers from my girlfriends at the time and some of my guy friends. While scrolling through who saw it, I noticed Shane's profile. I had never seen or met him before, but I saw that we followed each other. Obviously, I thought he was super cute and a little upset he didn't answer, so I made the first move and liked his most recent Instagram post. A couple of hours later, I checked the poll again and saw he clicked yes. So naturally, I messaged him and said, " If you would like to go, here is my number and snap". He added me on Snapchat later that night, and we started talking. WE made plans to hang out a few times before the dance itself so we could get to know each other, and that first time we hung out, I kid you not it was like I had known him for years, I felt so at peace with him even if he only listened to me yap away. We went to Homecoming, and I knew that this was going to be more than just a date for a dance. We kept hanging out, and I just felt so at home with him. I loved being around his family. We officially became a couple on October 27, 2019, after he had been with my family at one of my softball tournaments all weekend. Fast forwarding a bit, we went through senior year during COVID together and were inseparable. Now, it was time for us to head off to college. I was going to Flagler in Saint Augustine, FL, and Shane to JMU in northern VA ( 719 miles apart). This was such a huge change from being 15 minutes to 10 hours away from each other. We managed, made trips back and forth as much as we could. We ended up doing 2 years of long-distance before Shane went online and moved down to Saint Augustine. We got engaged on May 24th 2024, and then the day after Shane moved back to VA to go to ODU. We are finishing out the last year of long distance before we get married on 09/26/25!!!

Our story Syd's version

If you were to ask Sydney, our story started in September 2019. But for me, it started one random Thursday when I was scrolling through Instagram stories. I reached Sydney's story (I had no idea who she was; I just followed her because she was good-looking) and saw a poll asking, “Who wants to be my homecoming date?” I contemplated clicking yes on the poll because I always thought Sydney was attractive, but instead, I just scrolled on by. Not even twenty minutes late, I got a notification that Sydney had liked one of my Instagram pictures from a while ago, so I went back to her poll and clicked yes. Shortly after, she messaged me and gave me her Snapchat and phone number. We started talking and making plans to hang out before homecoming; one night, she texted me, “I'm coming to pick you up (because I didn’t have my license yet), and we are going to go to the football game. That night, when she picked me up and we met in person, it felt like we had always known each other. Then we went to homecoming, and I knew that this was not going to be just a “homecoming date.” We hung out every weekend and spent all of our free time together. I loved being around her and her family. We officially started dating on October 27, 2019. We made it through COVID together by spending every single day with each other, and after senior year was over, we faced our biggest challenge yet…going to colleges 719 miles away. I went to JMU, and she went to Flagler down in St. Augustine, Florida. Long distance was very tough, but we made it work by visiting each other fairly often, and after two years of doing this, I decided to switch to school online and move down to Florida to be with her. The day before I moved back to Virginia so I could finish my senior year at ODU, I asked Sydney to marry me. One more year of long distance to go, and on September 26, 2025, we are finally getting married.

Ties and bowties are optional but encouraged Additional Notes: The event will take place outdoors, so dress comfortably for the weather. Avoid overly casual attire like jeans, shorts, or athletic wear. Feel free to accessorize with floral patterns, pastel hues, and garden-inspired details!
