Our Wedding

We all have the idea of what a perfect love story looks like, right? Whether it is our own, one we have witnessed, or the Hallmark movies we binge. Each love story is special and unique. I am biased, but our story is my favorite. Jacob’s father always told the kids to do what you love and Jacob took those words to heart when he decided one day to switch majors from business to PGM. Jacob went through the PGM (professional golf management) program at the Ohio State University. Jacob was set to go to Ireland for an internship at Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg, Ireland. Thanks to Covid, Jacob had to stay close to home and landed at Heritage Golf Club in Hilliard, OH. Sydney attended Belmont University in Nashville and lived in Nashville, with occasional visits home. In 2019, Sydney made the tough decision to leave Nashville and move back to Hilliard, OH where she was born and raised. Sydney and her family were members of the local golf course, Heritage Golf Club. Golfing since the age of 8, Sydney enjoyed spending her free time on the golf course and was a member of HGC since she was in 8th grade. Sydney went on to play on the Hilliard Davidson High School golf team. Jacob picked up the game of golf his freshman year of high school and made a big impact on the New Bremen High School golf team. Golf is a big part of both our lives. Sydney began to notice Jacob working around Heritage Golf Club in the fall of 2019 and the beginning of 2020. Unfortunately, Covid hit and many places closed until further notice. Time passed and Jacob and Sydney were just two people who would talk when they would see each other, but nothing more. November 13, 2021, Ohio State Football was playing Purdue at home. Sydney was down at the Shoe bright and early, like every other home game to tailgate. Soon after arriving, Sydney noticed Jacob walking towards the tailgate with other members of HGC. Jacob came to just drop off, but was convinced to stay. Well just say that the intended DD, needed an Uber to get home ;) Jacob and Sydney started talking and instantly hit it off. They exchanged numbers, had a few drinks, and found out what they had in common. From that day, Jacob and Sydney talked everyday and grew closer. Come to find out, Jacob was from the town next to Sydney’s extended family and where her dad grew up. Small world? I think so! In the beginning of 2022, after the holidays, Sydney and Jacob finally hung out in person. All on the down low, of course. Jacob was an employee and Sydney was a member, which any sort of dating between the two was frowned upon. It was hard to navigate life together when we had to do it quietly and be sure no one found out. In December of 2022, Jacob accepted a position at a different golf club in the Columbus area. Mixed emotions ensued- happy he was growing in his career, but sad that the daily visits at HGC would come to an end. Jacob thrived and the relationship was finally free to be known. Friends and family got to know the other and it finally felt right. Things began to get serious after this point. Although it was a great opportunity, Jacob did not find the same joy at the new club that he once found at HGC, (I secretly think it was because he didnt get to see Sydney, haha!) Jacob made a few calls and tough decisions, but is now back at HGC and loving it. Jacob and Sydney are forever grateful that their paths crossed and they found each other. From strangers, to acquaintances, to friends, to partners, growing together and growing closer has been the biggest blessing. Our story has just begun!

COSI is so much fun whether you’re 5 or 55! Growing up, I loved spending summer days exploring all that COSI had to offer. Now, as an adult, I love the new exhibits that come and enjoy walking around with friends!
