We first met during our time in high school. We had some mutual friends and attended the same social gatherings, but that was the extent of our relationship. After high school, our paths didnt really cross until the summer of 2016 when Ben asked Sydney to play on his co-ed softball team. Remembering Sydney had played softball in high school, Ben thought she would be a good asset to the team. He quickly found out that was not the case, but even after learning her softball skills werent the greatest, Ben still had interest in Sydney. We began talking outside of softball, which led to us spending more time together. If you ask us what our first date was, you will get different answers. Ben will say it was a bonfire, and Sydney will say it was a Brewers game. Apparently we started spending so much time together, our first date happened under our noses, and we didnt even realize it. Nonetheless, we made many great memories that summer, and it will always be cherished as the summer that started it all.
As our relationship continued to grow, we decided to bring a little more excitement into our lives. On October 22, 2016, we drove to St. Marys Ridge to pick up the cutest little puppy. There were many name ideas tossed around, but Myles was finally decided on! Neither of us had ever owned a dog prior, but we quickly embarked on dog parenthood together. It is a decision we will never regret, as Myles has brought us so much love, joy, and happiness over the years.
As time went on, Ben moved to the Dutch Mill Farm, and Sydney spent a lot of time there. From time to time, there would be an occasional mouse spotting in the house, and the decision was made to get an outdoor cat. Well, the cat that Sydney brought home ended up being a kitten and quickly stole the hearts of all of the roommates. She never became an outside cat and was named Stacy by all of the guys in the house. Sydney tried suggesting many other names, but of course Stacy stuck. She has been a great four-legged addition to our little family.
We have shared many great memories and milestones over our 7 years of dating. In 2018 we took our first big trip together and traveled to Jamaica for the Jacobs Family Christmas. Since then, we have also traveled to Key West, Mexico, Vegas, and South Dakota. Weve also had many fun times out on the golf course or on UTV rides. Both are hobbies that we love to do together, as well as with our family and friends.
In December of 2019, Sydney graduated from Nursing School, and her career began at Mayo Clinic in 2020. Ben began working for the family business, Dutch Mill Trucking, about a year after he graduated from high school. He started out working in the shop and then moved into an office position for a short time. In May of 2021 Ben earned his CDL and began driving semi for Dutch Mill.
As we seem to do everything backwards in our relationship, we made the decision to buy a house. We both had lived with roommates the entire time of our relationship, and we felt it was time to get a place of our own. We closed on our first home in March of 2022 and have found it to be a perfect place for our little family.
On August 16th, 2023 (Bens Birthday) a group of twenty-one people headed out to South Dakota with the side-by-sides for a scenic trail riding trip. Sydney was hopeful Ben would propose on this trip, and for some reason, she had it in her head his birthday would be a good day for it. When it did not happen on his birthday, Sydney was convinced it wasnt happening on this trip at all. Well, Sydney just needed to have more patience because that next morning, Ben surprised her by getting down on one knee and proposing. It was such a special moment that we got to share with some of our closest family and friends. Needles Highway will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
Our wedding day would not be complete without the support of our family and friends! We are very excited to celebrate our special day with all of you!
