Welcome to Athens! 

If you are flying, you will likely be coming into the Atlanta Hartsfield - Jackson International Airport. While Atlanta is a fantastic city to visit, traffic can be unpredictable. We highly recommend giving yourself plenty of time to get to Athens, as it is about a 1.5-2 hour drive, if everything goes right! We want to ensure you have enough time to explore what Athens has to offer. Please see the "things to do" tab to give yourself some ideas. Arriving early will also ensure you don't miss our on any of the fun events we have planned leading up to the wedding. Please note that the Fall is football season for us! Although there will not be a "Saturday in Athens" this specific weekend, hotels often book up in advance due to university events. Please look into your accomodations sooner rather than later to avoid surprises, and reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

If you prefer not to rent a car, we have an affordable and reliable shuttle service we recommend using. These shuttles are a great option to help you get to town without the hassle of driving.

Nestled between downtown athens and UGA's campus, this hotel is where the Groom used to bartend during college! Prices range from approx. 180-250 a night, and breakfast is included! There is an extra charge for parking.

SpringHill Suites by Marriott Athens Downtown / University Area

In this Downtown Athens Hotel, you will find yourself immersed in local history, campus legends, and university traditions. Creative interiors and Bulldog nostalgia come together for a stay that's undeniably Athens, all just a short stroll from the University of Georgia and the Downtown Athens Historic District. This is the first LEED Gold Certified Hotel in Athens GA. If you don't know what that is - ask the Bride - as it was a topic of research in her Econ Senior Thesis at UGA. Described as an elevated, modern retreat in the heart of downtown. Kick back and relax surrounded by the artistic energy of Athens—right outside your windows. Hardwood floors, rustic industrial ceilings, warm wood furnishings, and Southern touches make our rooms simply one-of-a-kind.&nbsp;Approx $500 a night. *Pets allowed with an additional $75 daily charge.

Hotel Indigo Athens University Area an IHG Hotel

Just a few blocks from Downtown, this is a great choice! There is also free breakfast!Rates are approx. 145-180 a night.

Holiday Inn Express Athens an IHG Hotel

In the heart of downtown, this is another good option. Approx. 220 a night!

Hyatt Place Athens / Downtown

A little removed from downtown Athens, Rivet House offers an elevated and transformative escape, weaving modern sophistication with industrial elegance. A luxurious respite; a curated urban retreat—each stay is a uniquely engaging experience.Approx. 300 a night. Spa and Resturaunt (visited by the bride last year for her birthday) on site.

Explore the many local businesses, bars, resturaunts, and coffee shops Athens has to offer, all contained within a few blocks!

Downtown Athens

One of the Couple's favorite places to go watch animals! This small zoo has a few animals and lots of walking trails! It is nestled in the heart of Athens and great for small children.

Bear Hollow Zoo

A great place to go walk on a trail! This was minutes away from both the Bride and Groom's college apartments, so a place very frequented for them both. They also both attended their highschool prom here. There are some amazing views in this garden, kept up by the University.

The State Botanical Garden of Georgia

A small piece of Athens lore - go visit the son of the tree that owns itself!

Tree That Owns Itself

Go see where the Dawgs play! In the heart of campus, you will pass by many buildings frequented by both the Bride and Groom in their 4 years on campus! Ask the bride or groom for other sites to see on campus that are near and dear to them.

Sanford Stadium

One of the Groom's favorite hobbies is to go thrifting. If so desired, check out his favorite thrifting spot in the city and see what you can find!

America's Thrift Stores & Donation Center

Resturaunts

A favorite of the couple's for anniversaries or a nicer date night. If you stop by, try the Kenji Sushi Roll- a favorite of the Groom.

Chuck's Fish Athens

A unique dining experience for both brunch and dinner - this is one of the Bride's favorites! Try their duck fat tater tots or fried green tomatoes.

South Kitchen + Bar

The Groom's favorite late night spot for burritos! While the downtown location will always have a place in his heart, this is a close second and is always a request when asked where he wants to eat!

Taco Stand

Want a good fresh baked southern biscuit? Stop by here for brunch. Right oustide of downtown, this brunch spot is always packed and one of the Bride's favorites. No parking or too long of a wait - there is another location across town, or South Kitchen and Bar is a great alternative. If you stop by, you have to try their homemade raspberry jam!

Mama's Boy Restaurant

This is the Groom's idea of a southern biscuit, and is often frequented by him and his grandfather. Step into this gas station for breakfast served until 10 am and lunch served after for a quick option to go. Try the tenderloin biscuit or a biscuit with gravy.

Biscuit Basket Athens

A famous stop for chicken in Athens! Not wanting to go so far? Try the new Willie B's Chicken Coupe right down the road from the venue!
