Talitha and Matt met for the first time in 2016 how every cool college couple meets… as resident advisors! Before the end of the school year, the Residential Life department at Union College hosted a lunch for incoming and existing RAs to get to know each other for the next academic year, and Talitha and Matt were on the same residence hall staff. At this initial meeting, Talitha was very reserved and quiet upon meeting her new coworkers (shocking). They sat on complete opposite sides of the table but Matt can still remember what she was wearing that day.

As they started working together, Matt and Talitha quickly became friends. Whether it was hanging out with each other while one of them was on duty, or even studying for hours on end in Wold Atrium, they started to spend a lot of time together. Even though they were from totally different backgrounds, Matt and Talitha bonded over their similar sense of humor and personalities. They soon became best friends, but Matt was still clueless about why Talitha was hanging out with him so much. Eventually their mutual friends got tired of listening to them talk about each other and Talitha and Matt finally admitted they had a crush on each other! They started dating about a year after they met, and the rest is history.

In many ways, Talitha and Matt grew up together. They supported each other through several years of college, Talitha supported Matt as he found his career path, and Matt supported Talitha through 4 years of medical school and her dream of becoming a doctor. They would often talk about their similar goals and dreams for building a family together. 5 years later on August 6, 2022, Matt proposed to Talitha at Union College where they first met (and surprised her with both their families!) They couldn’t be more excited to say I do and start the next chapter of their journey together.
