Tanner and Sage met during their freshman year at Colorado Christian University where Sage lived in the apartment directly above Tanner. Throughout their first year of college, they didn't have much interaction other than brief encounters through mutual friends (they both still had a lot of growing to do before the Lord would bring them together :)). The next year, they happened to live in duplexes right across the street from each other, where they finally had the opportunity to develop a friendship. Amidst spirited games of Spikeball and back yard barbecue's, a special bond began to form between the unlikely duo.

As Summer 2022 approached, Sage moved to Arizona to spend time with extended family while Tanner stayed in Denver. Despite the distance, they stayed in close contact via phone calls and FaceTime, growing closer and closer with every conversation. In anticipation for the first semester of their Junior year, they both returned to campus, unknowing of what the future may hold. During an impromptu camping trip to the Great Sand Dunes with a group of friends, Tanner finally decided he couldn't live without Sage and made the decision to pursue her in the context of a relationship. He officially asked her to be his girlfriend on a drive home from a different camping trip in Leadville, Colorado...

The couple's dating relationship was marked by mutual learning and growth, and countless memorable adventures. Throughout the highs and the lows, they got to know one another in their imperfect states, trusting the Lord in his sovereignty while learning to live selflessly. Thanks to the grace of God and lots of patience, grace, and forgiveness, they overcame adversity and forged an un-breakable bond. Tanner asked Sage to marry him on October 14, 2023... and the rest is history!
