In March 2021 we reconnected over WhatsApp while Quisha was in Korea and Alex had retired from the military and was living and working in Mississippi. We talked on WhatsApp every day, getting to know each other, laughing and discussing our pasts and future dreams.December 2021 was a turning point. We decided to meet in person to catch up with old friends at the Fort Stewart Warrior Transition Unit. Afterward, Quisha took Alex to lunch at Izola's in Hinesville, GA. From that day on, our connection only deepened as Quisha returned to Korea and Alex to Mississippi. Two months after Quisha returned to Korea, before hanging up the phone Alex said "I love you." Quisha thought it was too soon, but Alex's heartfelt words, "You can't tell me how and when to love. I know what's in my heart," resonated deeply. Little did Quisha know, he meant every word.And so, our journey together truly began.
