We met in the summer of 2015 during an internship in between our Junior and Senior years of college. It was the worst internship, practically illegal. Zach almost broke my finger with an electric drill (but don't ask him, he'll say he didn't even leave a mark but it broke the skin). We grew very close during this time, relating to how horrible the internship was.
After the internship finished, Zach had to go back to school at NYU in New York and I was going back to school at LMU in LA. We didn't want to be apart so I visited him 3 times and he came home for holidays. Finally after we graduated, he moved back to SoCal.
A few years later, we moved into our first apartment together in Santa Monica. We loved it there! Even during covid when we couldn't go anywhere, we spent a lot of time in a park overlooking the beach, enjoying the sun and visiting with friends.
In 2023, Zach's company was moving to Orange County so we trekked down and moved into a new apartment in Newport Beach. It was definitely a change of pace for us but we are enjoying it!
Right around Zach's birthday, he decided he wanted to go back to our park in Santa Monica to spend the day. We went to one of our favorite brunch spots and took a walk in the park. He said he wanted to look out at the water but I was hesitant because there was a lady sitting behind a tree close by. Little did I know, it was his friend Emily who was there to take pictures of our proposal! After our day in Santa Monica, Zach planned an amazing dinner in Laguna that overlooked the water. It was the best day!
