This resort is 15 minutes from the venue and is the preferred hotel for guests of the wedding. Unfortunately, the resort does not offer a block room rate but there are a variety of discount options available.
The happy couple have booked rooms in the "On the Greens" villas. If you are able to book in that area that would be great! If not, there are many options in the resort.

How far is the venue from the San Diego Airport?
The venue is about an hour northeast of San Diego International Airport, which is the closest airport. Renting a car is recommended if you plan on exploring closer to downtown San Diego, as the venue is on the outskirts of the city. There are plenty of Ubers and Lyfts available to get you around town.
