The Perfect Match

Tara Kay Skeen and Benjamin Dean Otey first met on March 19, 2023, in Arlington, VA, at the Pentagon City Young Single Adults Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Ben had recently moved to Arlington from Phoenix, focused on starting a new career. But everything changed the moment he walked into church and saw Tara Kay.

Tara Kay noticed him at the same time. She was leading the music that day but couldn't help but notice the tall, handsome man who arrived fashionably late (four minutes, to be exact). Despite his tardiness, she decided to find out more about this new face.

After church they met when they happened to start talking to the same person with the intention of bringing the other into the conversation. Both were successful and soon exchanged contact information. After a few weeks of “subtle” flirting, Tara Kay and Ben had their first official (and several unofficial) date.

Seven weeks later, on May 7, 2023, they officially became a couple at Carter’s Mountain Orchard in Charlottesville, VA. Since then, they’ve traveled to two continents, three countries, and six states, all while looking forward to spending eternity together and adding even more memories to their list.

In their spare time, they love to travel, watch Hallmark movies, stay active by hitting the gym (whether at the dance studio or the MMA gym), and share plenty of laughs.

Ben’s favorite thing about Tara Kay is that when he sees her, he feels like he’s coming home. Her laugh, eyes, smile, and spirit are pure joy. She supports him, challenges him, and loves him unconditionally.

Tara Kay’s favorite thing about Ben is that he is hot.

They’ve faced challenges and celebrated victories together, and they eagerly anticipate the many adventures, challenges, and memories they will create as husband and wife starting on December 27, 2024, when they are sealed for time and all eternity in the Washington, D.C. Temple.
