Crys and Tara met in late summer, early fall 2011, while both serving their time in call center hell. Introduced by Tara's friend Tyler Isaacs, they bonded, yarned, and joked over the din of "Thank you for calling chatr, my name is... What would you like to chat about today?" in cringey customer service tones.
Despite Tara's intial impression of Crys as "weird" (a title she, admittedly, deserved at the time) they began dating January 8th 2012 and, in true lesbian fashion, moved in together and adopted a cat (Frankie - an asshole ginger cat from Shea Heights) not long after.
Sometime around August 2012, thanks to the good graces of Tara's parents Barry and Bonnie, they moved back to Tara's family home in Lawn, cat and all. They both enrolled in Keyin college to pursue pipefitting, and while they both enjoyed, and excelled in the course, neither wound up making much use of the certification.
After making it through some rough times with oh so much help from their families Crys began working that FIFO (fly-in, fly-out) life in the oilsands, while Tara powered through nightshifts at Walmart. Adjusting to the new normal of being apart for more than 1 night at a time was a struggle in the beginning, but as so many had done before them, they made it work.
In August of 2015 Crys and Tara moved into their house in Burin Bay Arm, on a beautiful, quiet lane overlooking the bay. Crys would like it noted, that prior to this, the most adult purchase she had ever made was a bed, only a few months previous.
Life continued on as it does in the years that followed, with many laughs, tears, good times, not so good times, friends, parties, Covid, lots and lots of silliness, (mostly Crys, who is still weird, but in a more endearing way) and a little bit of travel.
One of these little trips or staycations, as they are called now-a-days (thanks Covid), Tara and Crys both fell in love with the scenic views of Bonavista, and surrounding area, returning as often as possible to take in the sights, and walk through the provincial parks.
Given how much Tara and Crys enjoyed their trips to Bonavista, and the many happy moments they shared there with friends and family, it seemed so fitting to Tara that Bonavista was THE place to propose. So it came to pass on April 23rd 2024 (12 years, 3 months and 15 days after they started dating - but who's counting) on a beautiful, windy spring day, on the cliffs over looking the water in Dungeon Provincial Park, Tara proposed to Crys. With happy tear-filled eyes, Crys said yes (of course).
