Our Wedding

It's truly one of those stories where there's no other explanation other than that we were simply meant to find each other, no matter how far apart we may be. Kellen and I met through my brother, Tanner, who has been a full-time streamer on Twitch for close to a decade. Kell was my brother's moderator - basically meaning he was one of the few people my brother trusted enough to help him manage his stream, meaning he was there pretty much every time my brother hit 'go live,' interacting with the friends and community they formed. Now, I have played video games for as long as I can remember. My brother has always handed down his old consoles and games to me, and it quickly became one of my favourite past times. But as a girl, I didn't always have many friends to play them with. So one day, I headed to Tanner's stream, and I asked, "does anyone want to run some games together?" And there was Kellen. He and his friend joined my lobby, and I instantly had butterflies. We chatted until almost 4:00am, and the next day, he was the first thing I thought of when I woke up. Every day after, we played online together from the moment we woke up until the second we had to go to bed. We shared stories, learned about each other's lives, laughed all night long and slowly became completely inseparable. Except, the only thing truly separating us was 3,000 miles between my small town in Canada and his home in Washington. After nearly six months of playing together every single day, falling asleep on FaceTime and never wanting to hang up on one another, I finally decided we needed to meet in person. We met at the border in Niagara Falls and spent nine days exploring one of the eight wonders of the world and the beauty surrounding it. While we had never met in person, it truly didn't feel that way for a second. He met my family, instantly became a part of it, and I knew from that moment on that he would be in my life forever. This was all in April of 2022. Since then, we've each taken dozens of flights, stayed in a countless number of hotel rooms and given every available second we had to each other, because we knew that we had found a rare love that was worth every mile travelled and every dollar spent. It's been three and a half years since we met at that borderline, and we're still as inseparable as we were that first day. In May of this year, Kellen proposed to me at his family's beach house, on land that has been passed down for generations, in the sweetest way possible. Now, we're getting married just outside of the small town in Canada that I call home, one that my parents and their families have lived in for generations, and we couldn't be more excited to celebrate this journey, our love and our special day with you. While being from two completely different countries comes with its unique set of challenges, the distance between us has only made our love stronger. We are so excited for this next chapter in our lives, and we are eternally grateful that you will be there alongside us every step of the way. Love, The (Almost) Bakers

Please find a list of hotels within a 15 minute drive of the venue that we would recommend if you're travelling from out of town. Local Airbnb's in Waterloo, St. Jacob's or Kitchener would be within a 15 minute driving distance of the venue.

Featuring city views, The Laundry Rooms - Waterloo features accommodations, a rooftop pool, a fitness center, a terrace and a shared lounge. Free Wifi is available and private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. Each condo-style hotel suite is fitted with air conditioning, a seating area, a flat-screen TV with streaming services, a kitchen, a dining area, and a private bathroom with a hair dryer, a bath and free toiletries. A dishwasher, an oven, and microwave are also available, as well as a coffee machine and a kettle as well as bed linen and towels. Region of Waterloo International Airport is 8.7 miles away.

Hampton Inn &amp; Suites By Hilton Waterloo St. Jacobs is located in Waterloo, 11 miles from the Region of Waterloo International Airport. An indoor swimming pool and a bicycle rental service are available for guests. Free private parking is available and the hotel also has a shuttle service for guests who want to explore the surrounding area. All rooms at the hotel come with a flat-screen TV with cable channels and a kitchenette, air conditioning and a desk. The accommodation offers a buffet or American breakfast.

Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Waterloo St. Jacobs

The Crowne Plaza Kitchener-Waterloo is a nonsmoking property and features an indoor pool, fitness center and on-site restaurant. Modernly furnished accommodations offers free wireless internet, microwave and mini fridge. A TV with cable channels, iron, ironing board and air conditioning are standard in all the guest rooms. Each comes with a telephone, coffee-tea-facilities and private bathroom with toiletries. The aqua restaurant at Crowne Plaza Kitchener-Waterloo serves a variety of dishes and also offers room service upon request. Guests can also enjoy a drink in the Center Point Lounge. Travelling From Out of Town?

If you're travelling from out of town, first of all, thank you. We appreciate the miles travelled (trust us, we know it well) to spend this wonderful day with us. Secondly, here are a few tips that can help you as you plan your stay. Airport Options:Depending on where you are flying from, you can either fly into Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) or the Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF). Renting a car is recommended in both cases. If you're flying into Toronto Pearson, the drive to the venue will be about one hour. You'll drive past my home town on the way there! If you're flying into Waterloo, the drive to the venue is about 21 minutes. While this is the ideal option, the airport isn't huge and doesn't have a wide selection of flights yet but you may get lucky (Kell and I fly from Abbotsford to there if they run the flight on the day we plan for)! The City of Waterloo:The venue is located in Waterloo, a charming city in southern Ontario, with plenty of things to do. Check out Graffiti Market, Charcoal Steak House, Browns Socialhouse, Lancaster Smokehouse, Golf's Steak House, Wildcraft Grill, Burger's Priest or Gladiator Burger if you're looking for some good food. Conestoga Mall is in the area if you need to pick up something last minute, and there are plenty of activities and things to do. What's Around Us:If you're staying for a few days before or after the wedding, note that Niagara Falls is about a 1 hour and 40 minute drive from the venue, and the CN Tower is about a 1 hour and 25 minute drive from the venue. If you head to Niagara Falls, Kell and I recommend that you go to Nightmares on Clifton Hill if you're into haunted houses. For food, try out the Works or the Keg. And if you're there, you have to try beaver tails; they are a Canadian delicacy. And if you're headed to Toronto, check out Ripley's Aquarium, St. Lawrence Market, the Hockey Hall of Fame, Canada's Wonderland or the Distillery District.
