Our Story

Freshman Friends to Forever Family

Micah and Taryn met in their freshman year of college at Liberty University. Although they knew each other during the Fall semester, they didn't develop a friendship until the spring when Micah began spending more time with the friend group Taryn was a part of. Over the course of the Spring semester, they grew closer, having deep conversations and learning about each other. Both Taryn and Micah cite one particular conversation as the beginning of their romantic interest:

Taryn: The whole group was hanging out in the common area, but we ended up getting into a one-on-one conversation about love languages and personal goals. When Micah started talking about wanting to potentially minor in youth ministry because he really loves working with kids, my interest was immediately piqued. Since then, he's shown such a joy and aptitude for caring for children, and it's still one of my favorite qualities of his. That conversation definitely solidified my crush on him at the time and is still a fond memory.

Micah: One of the first interactions I had with Taryn was when I was beginning to hang out with her friend group, and we started having a conversation about love languages. It was a good conversation that ended up with me and Taryn branching off from the rest of the group. At one point I mentioned that words of affirmation were one of my love languages, to which she said "I think you are pretty great." And that stunned me, I had to talk to my friend Bryson (now my Best Man) after that because that stirred up emotions I didn't know how to process.

After keeping in touch over the summer by talking about a video game Taryn loved (that Micah started playing so he had something to talk to her about), they began pursuing each other more sincerely at the beginning of their sophomore year. After two weeks of obvious (to everyone else) flirting, they finally began officially dating on August 31, 2021 after Micah confessed to Taryn after church the Sunday before.

On August 31, 2023, after two years to the day of learning how to love each other well, Micah proposed to Taryn. She accepted, of course (we wouldn't be here otherwise!), and they are both thrilled to be embarking on a lifelong adventure together as husband and wife. Praise God for His provision and teaching us how to love each other through His love for us!
