$$$ Four Seasons Hotel St. Regis Hotel$$ W Hotel Polanco Hyatt Regency Polanco$ NH Hotel Zócalo Zócalo Central HotelPlease Note: There are several additional hotel alternatives which are convenient relative to the location of most events. Our suggestion is that if none of the alternatives above work, any hotel in or around the area between W Hotel Polanco and Zócalo Central Hotel should be ideal

Tips / Recommendations / Notes

General

Mexico City is a truly culture-rich and overall fascinating place so we would like you to enjoy your time here and get the most out of it. Mexico City is NOT particularly dangerous, it is simply a very large city (close to 25 million people live here!) so here are some basic tips.

Transportation

Please stick to Uber and any transportation arranged by a hotel (taxis or hotel cars) – transportation in either of these means is fairly priced, safe and clean.Do NOT take a taxi off the street or a "sitio".FROM THE AIRPORT: Uber is a good option / alternatively, immediately after exiting customs, where all family members wait for travelers (you will know where this is, given customs officials will ask you to press a button green = no inspection / red = additional inspection) on your right you will see a few taxi stands – YELLOW TAXI and SITIO 300 are safe and reliable. Please note: Sunday is a day where Reforma Avenue closes to car traffic while a lot of people bike through the area, take note of additional traffic time for the Farewell Brunch at the Four Seasons.

Traffic

As a city with almost 25 million inhabitants, Mexico City traffic can be unpredictable. You should allow ~15 minutes per mile / ~10 minutes per kilometer of travel time. Google maps and Waze are best guides. For those living in Mexico City: We will NOT provide valet parking the day of our wedding, we recommend you parking in a Hotel and/or utilizing Uber.

City Center (Zocalo / Centro / Historic Center / Downtown)

Mexico City's Zocalo can be very crowded; as such it is a popular place for pickpockets especially at night. Avoid walking around at night in search of bars/food, for this, we recommend the Polanco, Condesa, Reforma and/or Roma neighborhoods, which are all quite close to eachother and every wedding event.

Water and Food

Rule: Use Common Sense. Avoid drinking tap water! While drinking tap water at any international hotel chain is likely safe, it's simply easier to avoid altogether.Restaurant water is generally safe (most serve bottled water anyway), of course it depends on the restaurant and common sense is the best guide. Avoid street food.

Other health and environmental

Mexico City has a very high altitude, over 10,000 feet above sea level and its relatively dry. Don't be surprised if you find yourself out of breath a bit more than usual, especially the first day (its absolutely normal). On the plus side, you should know there are no mosquitoes (therefore no Zika) in Mexico City!
