How We MetIn January 2022, Sammy and Tati both joined an indoor frisbee league — not realizing that a random team draft would change their lives. Over the next few months, they became friends and exchanged numbers. By April, they were talking every day but had never actually hung out in person.That changed when Sammy went home to Connecticut for the summer. He told Tati he wished they’d hung out before he left and sent her a “hypothetical” question: if he&nbsp;hypothetically&nbsp;came back to Oklahoma for a day, would she want to&nbsp;hypothetically&nbsp;hang out? Her answer — “hypothetically yes” — turned into their first date on May 18th, 2022.The First DateTati picked Sammy up from the airport, where he surprised her with chocolate-covered almonds — her favorite. Sammy thought this was a clear sign he liked her. Tati… did not. After an hour of trying to “figure out the vibes,” they decided to go throw frisbee at a park near Oklahoma Christian University.That’s where Sammy discovered that Tati’s frisbee skills were, well, a work in progress. After nearly launching a disc into the pond, they relocated to the OU Health Sciences fields, where they laughed, talked, and looked at the stars late into the night.Soon after, Sammy left for Milwaukee to compete in Division III College Nationals — where he won Rookie of the Year and his team won the championship. Tati watched every one of his games from Oklahoma, not realizing it was only the beginning of a lifetime of frisbee spectating.The RelationshipAfter Nationals, Sammy went back to Connecticut and Tati stayed in Oklahoma. They talked every day, and on June 23rd, 2022, Sammy asked Tati to be his girlfriend.Over the next few years, they shared countless adventures — cheering at frisbee tournaments, visiting each other’s families, and making memories across states and seasons.The ProposalBy early 2025, Sammy was ready to plan his biggest “hypothetical” yet — a proposal. He gave Tati a list of potential dates but didn’t reveal the real one, which led to a series of elaborate fake-outs (including one that ended at Braum’s Ice Cream instead of a dream proposal).Finally, on April 5th, 2025, he brought her back to where it all began — the OU Health Sciences fields. There, surrounded by their family and closest friends, Sammy got down on one knee.Now We’re Getting MarriedWhat started with a random frisbee draft, an almost-lost disc, and a few “hypothetical” hangouts has turned into a life full of love, laughter, and way too many frisbee tournaments to count.Now, the girl who almost threw the disc into the pond and the guy who eventually taught her how to throw are officially teammates for life — ready for more tournaments, more adventures, and hopefully fewer trips to Braum’s.
