Where do I park?
There are multiple public car parks around Glenelg that are within walking distance to the Glenelg Pier Hotel. The three best locations to park your car will be the Glenelg Pier hotel parking lot, and the Marina Pier parking lot. Both of which are located on Chappell Dr as you approach the final round about towards the ocean. The third best option is the car park located at the beach house.
Travel Time?
Travel times will vary depending on where you are leaving from. It is important to take into consideration that there will be a music festival at Wigley Reserve that starts at 2 PM. This may impact parking and travel times especially as you approach Glenelg. The underground parking lot located at the Glenelg Pier Hotel and the Marina Pier should not be impacted too significantly.
What should I wear?
This is a formal/black tie optional event, so anything you want to wear, we are sure to be okay with. The bride requests that you don't wear a wedding dress, but if that's really all you have to wear, she prefers you to go naked.
What time should I arrive to the ceremony?
The ceremony starts at 3:00 PM, so guests are advised to arrive 15 minutes prior to get settled before the proceedings. Guests are free to come as early as desired if you're wanting to explore the area more.
As an international guest, do I need a visa of any kind?
You must have a valid U.S. passport and an approved Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). The ETA is an online visa that allows citizens to stay in Australia for up to 90 days per entry, for tourism or business purposes. The easiest way to apply for the ETA visa is through the phone app "Australian ETA" or on the Australian Department of Home Affairs website. It costs $20 AUD/$13.43 USD for the visa.
As an international guest, should I rent a car?
It is recommended to rent a car, this will give you more flexibility in your daily activities. There is also a tram/train that travels from Adelaide City to Glenelg. It takes about 30-40 minutes, and is very cheap. The option is yours. Keep in mind, Australians drive on the WRONG side of the road, also known as the left side.
Is the wedding ceremony far away from the wedding reception?
No, the ceremony and the reception are held in the same location. The wedding ceremony will take place on the beach, just outside of the Pier Hotel, where the reception is located.
I have dietary restrictions/allergies. What's the best way to let you know?
Guests are able to let us know about any dietary restrictions/allergies when they RSVP. There will be a prompt to write down anything that you would like us to be aware of.
Why are there 2 hours in-between the wedding ceremony and the reception?
The wedding photos will be taken with the wedding party, and the families in that duration. Guests are free to hang out at the hotel bar for drinks and canapés/appetizers. Guests will move from the hotel bar to the reception area afterwards.
When should I RSVP by?
Please RSVP no later than March 1st, 2024. We highly recommend international guests to RSVP earlier, so you can book flights and hotels while they are cheaper. Hotels could be fully booked out closer to the wedding date, so the sooner the better.
When will the reception end?
The venue will be closing at midnight, but for those of you that are night owls, you can socialize in the hotel bar until 2:00 AM.
What will the weather be like?
It is Autumn/Fall in April, so the nights can be cooler, especially being near the beach. While we can't predict the exact forecast, South Australia is usually low 70(F) or 20(C), so dress accordingly.
