We met at Amerigo's in Flowood, MS, on Friday, September 17th, 2021. We had discovered each other online and arranged to meet there for our first date. Daulton was leaning against the light pole just beside the front door when Tatum walked up and introduced herself.
Our first date went very well. We were instantly able to speak freely and connect with each other. We knew right away that we were compatible and had similar goals for our lives. We finished our meal and walked over to Berry Berry Good, a frozen yogurt shop next door, for dessert. We covered so many topics that night, but we somehow never ran out of things to say.
The following night, we decided to watch the Ole Miss-Tulane game together. Daulton's dog, Fletcher, took to Tatum very quickly, and we were having a great time, enjoying the game, when Daulton's sister, Delta Claire, came in. To this day, we're not sure why she decided to stop by, but as soon as she did, she greeted Tatum, then promptly tried on Tatum's shoes sitting by the door. Daulton was certain he would never see Tatum again, but luckily Tatum found this extremely funny and became fast friends with Delta.
Our relationship really blossomed from this point forward. We were both very busy with work and school, yet we somehow still saw each other several times a week. We knew that we had true potential here, but we agreed that we wanted to take things slow and not rush anything. However, God had other plans. We were both completely in love with each other within two months of meeting.
We were rarely away from each other by that point, and we embarked on many adventures together. We made frequent visits to all of our favorite places in Jackson and the surrounding areas. We made a road trip to Indianola, MS, to pick up a new addition to the family: Tatum's dog, Faulkner! Tatum stood by Daulton as he accomplished his life's goal of becoming a doctor, and she supported him and celebrated him through this time. We went on our first trip together to Universal in Florida for Tatum to experience the Wizarding World attractions, a bucket list item for her, and for Daulton to enjoy all the nostalgia of the movies he grew up with.
We had been spending so much time together, that we really struggled when Daulton started his residency in Tupelo, MS. This distance meant that we would see each other much less, yet somehow, we still managed to see each other almost every weekend between our busy schedules. By November 2022, we decided that we simply did not want to be apart, and Tatum made the decision to move to Tupelo and work as a vet tech at a local clinic.
Throughout our brief time together, we have discovered more and more about each other and only fallen deeper in love. The more we learned, the more evident it became that God made us for each other. So, on February 4th, 2023, only a week after buying the ring and asking her parents' blessing earlier that day, Daulton dropped down to one knee at the very place he and Tatum first met, the light pole just outside Amerigo's in Flowood, and he asked Tatum to be his wife. She made him the happiest man in the world by agreeing.
We could not possibly be more excited to be starting our lives together, and we are so grateful that we will be able to share the occasion with you. We look forward to seeing you on January 20th, 2024, at Puckett Methodist Church as we join our lives before God and man. Thank you so much for your support!
