Our Wedding

Taya and Thomas first met on a music trip to Minneapolis in 2019. They spent time together with a few other friends throughout that weekend, visiting several museums and malls, an aquarium, and sitting through several long symphony concerts, all the while carrying around stuffed French fries and trading their beanies with each other. Taya thought Thomas was so kind and funny, and enjoyed the time they got to spend talking about music, where they listened to 'Ophelia' together. Little did they know they would see The Lumineers in concert together six years later. The two shared band together the following school year, but wouldn't reconnect until the late summer of 2020. They had their first date walking through the Schuette park trails, where they would return several other times, including taking pictures together on the day they started dating and posing for pumpkin head pictures the following Fall. Eventually, it was there that Thomas would propose to Taya four and a half years later.The two spent the next two years together watching The Office, Anime, and YouTube, playing video games, and getting lots of McDonald's and Culver's together. They attended prom and homecoming together, took a trip to Chicago, watched Taya in all her music performances, attended each other's high school graduation, and even took a road trip to Seattle. Many great memories were made during the first two years of their relationship, before they both embarked on the next chapter in their lives: college and the military. Over the next several years, the two of them learned to navigate their long-distance relationship from letters in boot camp to later texts, phone calls, and emails. Over the past three years, Thomas has been able to visit home in Wisconsin several times, and Taya has visited Thomas in Washington, gaining a glimpse of what their life will be like after graduating from college. The two of them are very eager and excited to finally start this next chapter of their lives together and are so glad that you can share this special day with them!

Jadyn and Taya have known each other for four years now, having met in their freshman year in chemistry class, where they sat across from each other and realized they were both nursing majors! Over the years, they ended up getting really close, sitting next to each other in almost every nursing class, working with each other during nursing lab simulations, and completing the same clinicals together! They have gone on many adventures together and have learned so much about each other! One of Jadyn's favorite memories with Taya was when she got to see Taya in her hometown, where they also went to Oneida to play bingo! They navigated through some rough points in nursing together and continued to stick by each other's sides, making the best of every situation!

Jadyn Splittgerber

Taylor and Taya have been best friends since high school, having met while running marching band drill side by side their sophomore year. They spent the following years practically attached at the hip, performing in pit orchestras and various other band events, getting the essential before-school coffees and Hartman's donuts, making their famous "Yummy Salad" (trademark pending), and even working the same job (shoutout to Friar Tucks)! Taylor has seen the bride and groom's relationship since the very start, when the three of them spent a lot of time together during the first year of their relationship. Taya drove Taylor and Thomas to and from school every day, got lunches together, and even played Mario Kart a few times. Taylor is very excited to be a part of the bride and groom's special day as they embark on this new chapter together.

Lydia and Taya have been in each other's lives since day 1- they are cousins! Lydia didn't grow up with any biological sisters, but has been lucky enough to have Taya fulfill that role. From playing with Barbies to now wedding planning, Lydia truly couldn't be happier for Taya and Thomas. The commitment these two have had is truly inspirational and has been such a blessing to watch over the years. Lydia is thrilled to have been there since the start of their relationship and cannot wait to see all the next big life steps that are to come!

Izzy is Thomas's little sister and feels so lucky to be part of this special day. When asked to be a bridesmaid, she was thrilled to know that she wouldn't be a flower girl. There was one day in particular, about a year into the bride and groom's relationship, when Izzy asked Taya if she and Thomas were going to get married one day and if she could be at the wedding. Taya told her that she would be in the wedding, standing by her side. From Izzy and Taya laughing together about 'babushka chickens' and playing video games, to Izzy doing Taya's makeup before Thomas's boot camp graduation and getting ready with her the morning of the wedding, they will continue to share many more great memories as sisters-in-law!

Izzy Everard 

Thomas and Ben have maintained a friendship since early elementary school, fostered by their shared interest in video games. Their bond was further strengthened by the discovery of their close proximity, with Thomas residing merely three blocks from Ben. 
During their high school years, their bond further developed through their shared interest in the card game, Magic: The Gathering. On weekends, Thomas and Ben would often extend their evenings, engaging in Magic sessions with a group of friends. However, even after the group disbanded for the night, Thomas and Ben consistently remained to converse and assist with the post-gathering cleanup.
When asked to serve as Thomas's best man, Ben enthusiastically accepted the opportunity to be a part of such a significant moment in Taya and Thomas's lives.

Ben Huycke

Thomas and Allen first met in 2015 shortly after Allen had moved to Wisconsin. Their friendship started with a shared interest in video games. As time passed on, their friendship grew stronger in high school as more similar interests arose. Thomas and Allen played soccer together, and were also in band together. In band is when Allen was able to see Thomas and Taya interact with each other and grow together. Even after high school, Thomas and Allen have been able to stay in touch playing Magic: The Gathering in a group with our close friends. Allen is excited for Thomas and Taya to continue to grow in their relationship together and is grateful to be part of their special day!

Allen Langerstrom

Thomas and Miguel have been friends since junior high school. They really kicked the start of their friendship in band class with both being in percussion. From there the two practiced together and strengthened their friendship during summer band bash while playing together. In high school Thomas and Miguel still played band together and also started similar interests together with Magic the Gathering and DND where they would spend countless weekends playing games together as a group and campaigns. Miguel is glad to be part of this big moment in Taya and Thomas’s lives!
