Our Story

🏈 Super Bowl LIV - Feb 2, 2020 🏆

It all started when I finally built up the courage to pack up my things and move from Kansas to New York City.

It was January of 2020. My timing was perfect.

About a week into my new life in NYC, and a month before the world (especially NYC) would be put on pause by a pandemic, I went to a bar with my college friends to watch the Chiefs play the 49ers in the Super Bowl.

I was standing at a table looking at the room from the same exact perspective as the photo above. And I saw a girl at the second table on the left by the stairs.

I don't know why but I felt like I had to move tables. I had just moved after all, I needed to meet some new people. Especially that girl.

I found out her name was Taylor, she was also from Kansas. She grew up in Lawrence and went to KU and graduated the same year as me.

She was beautiful, had a great sense of humor, and happened to live one block away from me in Brooklyn. After celebrating a Chiefs win, we took the train back to Bushwick together with our roommates.

I immediately started planning a way to hangout with Taylor again. I got her number and asked her all my "just moved here" questions.

"What gyms are around here?" - Want to go workout? (this was literally the first thing I texted her)

"What other bars are cool here?" - Want to go?

"What's a good place to eat? ... (you see where this is going.)

She invited her roommate to everything. Thankfully (no offense Madeline) her roommate couldn't join most of the time.

After a workout, shared grocery store visit, and a night of pool, I felt like I was making progress. I wanted to date Taylor.

Soon after our night of pool. Covid hit. I ended up back in KC and Taylor ended up back in Lawrence, only 45min away from each other.

Our casual hangouts soon turned into 4hr long walks and deep conversations because there was nothing else to do.

We got to know each other very well. We fell in love.

Now, 4 years later, On Feb 11, 2024, I went to the kitchen to make some breakfast.

I saw the same girl I met at that Super Bowl party. She was wearing the same jersey she wore that night.

I looked down, I was wearing the same shirt.

The Chiefs were in the Super Bowl again that day, playing against the same team, the 49ers.

The Chiefs won again. So did I.

I'm so excited to share our wedding day with you. Thank you for being a part of it. We can't wait to celebrate with you.

Love,

- Nathan
