We recommend Heathrow International Airport. Heathrow provides the easiest access to and from central London. Just know other airports will likely require the additional cost and time for cab or uber transportation.
To get from Heathrow airport to central London - you have a few options. We recommend the Heathrow Express (for a speedy trip) or the Tube if you are looking for something more economical. You can read up on the options here: (https://www.heathrow.com/transport-and-directions/getting-to-central-london). Most train tickets can be purchased in advance online for a slightly cheaper cost, but can also easily be purchased at the station if you would rather keep your options open.
This section is for those that plan to arrive before the wedding weekend and wish to explore London. Please note the actual wedding will not be taking place in London. We highly recommend staying closer to the venue for the 22nd through the 25th. More on that below.
We will be staying in the Marylebone area of central London. But do not feel like you are restricted to this district - the London public transportation systems can connect us with you anywhere in central London.
Some popular areas include:
Marylebone
Mayfair
Spitalfields
Kensington
Clerkenwell
We strongly advise relying on London's public transportation while within the city (cabs, buses, Uber, the Tube and good old fashion walking).
Note for traveling on the Tube or buses - you no longer need a physical ticket. They are all contactless and automatically calculate the charge based off the distance from where you enter and exit. Just flash your debit card or apple pay at the turnstiles and walk straight through. The cost is usually a few pounds. Oh also, google maps can happily navigate you through the underground. Your phone is your friend, it will tell you the way, but cell service can be spotty so download offline maps beforehand.
Our wedding is taking place in the market town of Winchcombe, which sits in the Borough of Tewkesbury in the county of Gloucestershire, England. We truly hope most of you will choose to stay with us for the three nights around the wedding (Sat 22, Sun 23, and Mon 24). Please see 'The Plan' for the proposed schedule of events.
Note - Winchcombe is a small town in the countryside. Most conveniences like Uber and food delivery services will not be available. Please plan accordingly.
Close family and friends of the bride and groom will have accommodations reserved for them, we will reach out to you on the best ways to book these.
Unfortunately though, not everyone will fit into the provided accommodations, so below are some of the local inns we recommend booking with. We recommend checking Airbnb, too! There are also the towns of Cheltenham and Broadway that have several more options. 😊
5 min walk from wedding location.
10 min walk from wedding location.
Note this is an 8min drive from wedding location - or 22mins on the public bus.
If you are looking for your own transportation to and from London - or simply looking for options while in Winchcombe - here are some suggestions. Keep in mind Winchcombe is a small village, everything is within walking distance once there. The wedding location is a ten minute walk from anywhere within town.
Train - you can take the train from London Paddington station to Cheltenham Spa station. Cheltenham is a city 20 minutes by cab/uber from Winchcombe. Please see the note above about being in the countryside though - Uber and cab services might be limited. Double check if you can reserve a ride to and from before hand.
Car Rental - if you are feeling adventurous, you can rent a car from London Heathrow and road trip it out to Winchcombe. A few things to note: there is an extra fee for driving in central London - so we recommend not picking up the car until you are ready to leave London. Double check that your accommodation has available parking. Also fair warning, the roads within the Cotswolds can sometimes be nothing more than a narrow single lane, so please drive responsibly.
