Do I get to ski on your wedding day??
DUH!! A party lap with everyone will absolutely be part of the day before cocktail hour. You can't do après ski without the ski ;) . The venue is midway up the Nasserein gondola so it is considered "on-mountain". Please plan to have your lift passes purchased ahead of the party lap so we can all stick together.
However, if you don't ski there will be alternate transportation provided to the venue.
How do we get off the mountain after the wedding ends?
Strap back into your skis and make your way down mountain! This is a part of the St Anton Après Ski experience! The venue also has enough toboggans for everyone to ride down on, alternatively, which will be equally (if not more) fun. Based on past experiences, we encourage people to bring headlamps if they have them.
If none of those options appeal to you, there will be alternative transportation provided.
What is the dress code?
In the words of Rob, "ski formal". This means.... you should be wearing ski gear, but maybe you're incorporating a nice sweater. Something that makes you feel dressed up while still being functional to ski in.
Where should I stay?
We are staying in the Hotel Nassereinerhof (https://www.nassereinerhof.at/en/home/). This hotel requires you to book for the whole week and includes meals. If you are not planning on staying the whole week, we recommend you lodge near the Nassereinbahn (gondola) so you're nearby! Please be aware that it is a holiday week in Europe that week (essentially euro spring break) so we are encouraging people to book early!!!!
St Anton itself is very walkable, but booking in other nearby towns will require you to take a bus or taxi to St Anton. If you have any questions about location while you're booking, please don't hesitate to reach out.
What should I pack?
Check the weather the week leading up! The weather at the base/in town is often different than the weather up high so understand the elevation of the weather reports you're reviewing. Layers are key to skiing in the alps!
St Anton is a ski-oriented, casual town. It's not uncommon to see people out and about in their ski boots late into the night!
This is certainly not a requirement but something we've learned is a good practice: If you own a headlamp, we suggest bringing it to wear down from the après bars. It helps you see but it also helps the intoxicated people above you see that you're below. The slopes descending from the après bars are not lit! Alternatively, a small flashlight or light up items work.
We recommend bringing a small cable lock if you are bringing your own skis/snowboard. We have unfortunately heard rumors of theft at the après bars.
Will my shoes be transported to the venue so I don't have to wear my ski boots all day??
YES! I have confirmed with the venue that they will transport shoes to the venue for us. More details to come on drop off and pick up but this has certainly been a FAQ!
