Yellowstone is the first national park in the United States. The West Entrance into the park is located 40 minutes from the Ranch. There is a $35 fee per vehicle to enter the park, which covers all persons in the car. If you have a current U.S. Park Pass ($80 and allows access to all U.S. Parks) it is free to enter.
Some of the top attractions in Yellowstone are listed below:
1. Old Faithful
2. Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone
3. Lamar Valley & Hayden Valley
4. Mammoth Hot Springs & Grand Prismatic Hot Springs
5. Yellowstone Lake
6. Rosevelt Arch
7. Dunraven Pass
Fly Fishing
The Ranch is situated on the Gallatin River, which is home to wild trout. It is also in a prime location with some of the most famous fly fishing waters located within a two-hour radius. A private stocked pond is also conveniently located on the property.
The Ranch offers fly fishing lessons and equipment rentals on site. However, a Montana Fishing License will need to be purchased to fish on all rivers and tributaries.
Horseback Riding
The Ranch also offers 1-hour, 2-hour, or 3-hour horseback trail rides from the property. These trail rides are guided and go through the high mountain meadows or along the river. On these rides it is possible to see wildlife such as elk, deer, moose, bear, eagles, and wolves if your lucky.
Unfortunately, they do not offer trail rides on Sundays or on Labor Day (when we will be there) so you may just have to stay another day. If you wish to partake, you must make reservations ahead of time.
There several other activities nearby that can be done. If you are looking for things to do look into other trail rides, fly fishing areas, or guided tours. A zipline is also located nearby for the daredevils.
