If you ask Sam how he first met Taylor you will get an answer that goes something like this: His first semester at EKU he rushed Theta Chi (with the majority of his groomsmen). On the night of their bid day party the pledges descended the stairs into the Wellington basement and Sam spotted Taylor in the crowd across the room. He would regard her as one of those cute Theta girls for a long time before they actually started talking. Now if you ask Taylor how they first met…… she’ll say she doesn’t remember, he was just someone she always knew of. I think we will let Sam have the official story for this one.

What no one debates is how Sam and Taylor started dating…. the first time. You can all give a big thanks to Curtis Conrad for setting up the betrothed and passing along phone numbers. Sam and Taylor’s first date was for drinks at the Whiskey Bear where Sam was a perfect gentleman, getting her car door, picking her up and driving her home, and NOT going for a kiss goodnight (though it would have been welcome). The two dated for some months that summer until things ended amicably - the timing wasn’t right for either of them. 

Three solid years later, still running in the same crowd, both parties grew, flirtation became obvious, and eventually Taylor made the first move to bridge the gap (in a story that shall remain untold) with the encouragement of your Maid of Honor, Hailee Heibert. Later that week the two decided to start talking again. On that very night, Sam had to take Taylor to the ER to get stitches in her forehead from a rec-league kickball accident. A good second first date right? 

Sam and Taylor have been inseparable ever since. Sam moved back to Lexington, joined the police academy, and the two moved into their first apartment together in 2022. In 2023 Taylor graduated with her PhD and got her first big-girl job, and the couple got engaged on Christmas Day surrounded by Taylor’s family. In 2024 the couple got Roscoe a baby brother, Podrick. With two fur-babies the apartment felt a little small, so they sprung for a backyard for the boys and bought their first home. 2025 brings us to arguably the most important milestone yet, getting married! Thank you for being a part of this day, the couple is so excited to share and celebrate this moment with each of you.
