Our Wedding

The story begins where all great love stories begin, the Western Oregon Mail Room. This is where Tanner met a pretty girl named Taylor and helped her open her mailbox. From there he became a certified jersey chaser and attended his fair share of WOU soccer games. Their casual friendship started to escalate after they took a class together. Soon after, they became “official” on a hike in Oregon. From there, they skipped around Asia teaching English in Bangkok and backpacked on a budget. Once returning back to the states, they put some miles on their cars as they did a year of driving up and down I5 and 205 between Kelso and Portland. It was decided that Hawaii was a tad more desirable than Kelso, so Taylor moved back home when Tanner started up grad school. Though FaceTime and time zones aren’t really Tanner’s strong suit, they somehow made it work. With the aid of flight vouchers, they never went more than two and a half months without seeing each other. Once the pandemic hit, Tanner made PDX-HNL his monthly commute while teaching remotely. While the time together during the lockdown and pandemic was sweet, leaving each other only got harder and harder. That is when Tanner, with parental blessing, devised a plan to be together forever. On Taylor’s first trip off the island since the pandemic began, Tanner took her on a short hike and popped the question. The future nurse said yes and then they started to plan the rest of their lives together.
