Taylor said YES on July 25th, 2020 at the Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford, IL. Knowing Taylor would be expecting a proposal around that time, Andrew created a plan that he knew she wouldn't expect. Andrew’s idea was to have Taylor think she was planning a date, but really he was the one making the plans. I guess you can do that when you have been together for 10+ years. The first phase was having a friend offer Taylor 4 free tickets to Anderson Japanese Gardens. Andrew knew that Taylor would accept the tickets. Phase 2 was to have Taylor invite some of our friends to come with us. Knowing who she would invite, Andrew got them in on it with him. Phase 3 was getting a photographer. Coincidentally, Taylor happened to give the extra tickets to one of her photographer friends (Abby) and her husband (Fin). Keep in mind this whole time, Andrew is playing this off like he is not excited about the gardens and really doesn't want to go. While they were touring the gardens, their friends, Hayden & Madi, were secretly inside setting up the proposal at the perfect private location in front of the waterfall. They were even able to get an employee to block the section off to the public and secretly open the path as they approached. As they walked up the small secluded path and Taylor saw a glimpse of the decorations she turned to Abby with a look of absolute shock. Andrew had to practically pull her to the spot where he dropped to his knee. After momentarily “blacking out” and missing Andrew’s well-rehearsed speech, she excitedly accepted. They then had a photoshoot at the gardens and headed to the surprise engagement party hosted by Andrew’s mom, Maria. In Taylor’s words, it was perfect.
