If you have time before or after our wedding, we highly recommend spending some time in DC! Spring is one of the best times to visit the city. If you'd like to add DC to your trip, we would advise flying into or out of Washington National Airport (DCA).
The National Cherry Blossom Festival will be in full swing around the time of our wedding! Check out the bloom forecast before your trip to see if you'll be able to catch peak bloom.
The best places to view the blossoms are around the Tidal Basin and the Washington Monument. Our favorite event is the Kite Festival, which is scheduled to take place March 29, 2025.
If you're looking to avoid the crowds, another great spot to see cherry blossom trees is the National Arboretum. Not only does it have a wide variety of cherry blossoms, it's also home to the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum and the original Capitol columns.
Zach and Taylor spend almost every weekend at Valley Brook. Yunhan and Mengye serve the best tea in the city. But if you can't make it into DC, you're in luck. We'll be serving their tea at our reception. :)
Stop by Taylor's old stomping grounds! She worked as a tour guide at the Cottage from 2017 to 2018. President Lincoln spent his summers here beginning in 1862, and it's where he began drafting the Emancipation Proclamation.
Visit the museum where we got engaged! The National Portrait Gallery is Taylor's favorite museum in the city because it combines two of her favorite things: art and history. We got engaged in the Great Hall on the third floor, which is the room where guests processed on their way to Lincoln's second inaugural ball.
Zach and Taylor first visited Roosevelt Island over five years ago. Since then, we've visited countless times. It was the place where we spent the first day of quarantine. Throughout the pandemic, the tiny island became a refuge from the chaos of the world. And now whenever we need a moment to reflect or unwind, the island is always waiting.
Crown & Crow is our go-to bar. It's a Victorian-style basement bar in the lively Logan Circle neighborhood. The drinks are solid, and the bartenders are fantastic. In fact, we even celebrated our engagement at C&C.
