How we met

Picture of How we met

What was supposed to be a girls night after returning from a winter break on January 7th, 2015, from college, turned into a day Taylor would never forget!

Taylor and Ashleigh decided to go to a bar to reunite after spending break back in their home towns. While they were sitting at the bar, a lady kept bumping into Taylor trying to get drinks. Taylor and the lady started talking and Taylor ordered her drinks every time she came up to the bar. The lady asked Taylor what she did for a living and introduced herself, her name was Deelynn. Impressed with Taylor, Deelynn invited her to come meet her friend Chris who was opening a restaurant. Reluctant at first, Taylor and Ashleigh politely brushed it off and continued their night. Again, Deelynn returned and she convinced Taylor and Ashleigh to meet Chris. He gave them a business card and invited them to come interview for his restaurant.

Two days later, Taylor and Ashleigh interviewed at the Grumpy Monk and became the first employees of the restaurant. Over the next couple of months, Taylor and Chris worked closely together and hung out with mutual friends. In June, Chris' younger brother came to work for the Grumpy Monk. Chris had asked Taylor to train and show him around Myrtle Beach.Without a question Taylor did and in doing this Chris and Taylor became even closer. In July, Chris finally texted Taylor and asked if she would go on a date with him. She said yes and the rest was history!

The Proposal

Chris and Taylor made plans to go to dinner Friday night before going home for her cousins' wedding in New York. Chris told Taylor that he was spending the day searching for a new restaurant. He texted her that afternoon that he had signed a lease and that they would celebrate during dinner. He told her that the reservation was set for 5 p.m. and to be ready at 4:30 p.m. so that they would not be late.

Taylor thought nothing of it and began to get ready for dinner. When putting on her shoes, Chris stepped out of the garage and took a phone call. He came back in and said the restaurant called to push the reservation back to 5:30 p.m. Since it was only 4:45 p.m., Chris asked if Taylor wanted to grab a beer and drink on the beach. Taylor grabbed two beers and they drove to the beach.

They got out of the car and walked on the beach. It was a beautiful day with a gorgeous sunset. As they were walking and catching up on their busy day, Chris asked Taylor how many restaurants he had to open before they got married. Taylor had always joked that after 5 restaurants he'd have time for her and could focus on a wedding. So she replied 3 more. He got down on one knee, pulled a ring out of his pocket, and asked, "Well would you marry me now?" She couldn't believe it and said yes!

Little did she know her two friends were hiding in the bushes photographing and filming the entire proposal. They went to dinner with their friends and then the four of them headed to a bar to meet Chris' childhood friend Glenn to celebrate the news! They were the only ones in the bar. They were all asking Taylor about the proposal when.... all of a sudden, "Who Let The Dogs Out" came on the speakers and a bunch of dancing hot dogs and dinosaurs walked in. Since Taylor loves hot dogs, Chris bought hot dog suits for her friends to wear, he seemed it would only be fitting... and epic. After crying over seeing her friends, Taylor went over to the dinosaurs. She couldn't tell who they were since their faces were covered. As if she couldn't be surprised enough, her Mom, Dad, two brothers, and best friend from home revealed themselves and were all there to celebrate. Taylor was beyond shocked and could not believe her fairy tale day got even better!
