Our story starts in a small bar in Slidell, Louisiana. Taylor was out with friends on a normal "girls night". Brian was new to the area and was out with a friend he had met the week prior.
Brian saw Taylor across the dance floor and knew he had to go and talk to her. After convincing her to head to the bar so he could buy her a drink, Brian began thinking of what question he would ask first. Before he had a chance to say anything, Taylor - with her Michelob Ultra in hand - said "thanks for the drink", and left.
Brian, a bit disappointed, went back to his friend, shrugged his shoulders, and said "you win some, you lose some." Little did he know, this was far from the end of their story.
Even if Brian or Taylor wanted to move on from this first encounter (they did not), Taylor's friends would not allow it. Regardless of what bar (or supermarket) Brian went into over the next few months, he was greeted by the shouting of his name by any present members of the friend group.
Brian and Taylor spent these next few months half-dating, half-dodging their friends as they started to figure out how well they fit together. Were it not for these chants of his name, however, Brian and Taylor may not have found each other again. But that depends on who you ask.
Taylor and Brian weren't together ever after from that point on. With difficulties at work and personal struggles, they spent some time apart after about a year of dating. This was hard on them both for different reasons. Taylor worked on herself. Brian took a long trip to Florida...and then worked on himself as well.
They met again four months later at a Starbucks. Taylor was a happier person, and Brian had quit drinking. They decided to give it a go again, This time, there was more laughter, more adventure and, eventually, more love.
Fast-forward a few months, and Taylor and Brian are well on their way to figuring out a life together. Trips to Houston, days on the lake fishing, and time outside with the dogs filled the days and weeks through the next couple years. As two individuals very driven by their careers, they still found time to spend together, even if it was an easy date night at Brian's Slidell apartment or an evening at a Mardi Gras parade.
At this point they knew. There was no denying that they were planning to stay together. They started looking for houses as a couple so they could start to truly come together as one. Taylor came with more animals and pet accessories than she had clothes, and that worked well for Brian. Their house in Hammond was instantly a home full of people and paws.
Taylor and Brian's Hammond home is still full of life and love. 4 dogs, 2 cats, multiple fish and a turtle are still permanent residents on Denali Drive, and any given week could bring a multitude of other guests. They have fostered puppy litters, raccoons, and squirrels. Taylor and Brian both still have busy schedules; work has Brian travelling at least once a month, and Taylor's hours are often long and unpredictable. Even so, the house is never quiet.
Taylor and Brian keep finding ways to bring more love into their lives. Saturday FBS agreement (LSU and Tennessee) gives way to Sunday NFL rivalry (Saints and Patriots). Rainy afternoons mean long naps on the coach punctuated with shouts at Petunia to stop snoring. Evenings are filled with passing the buck on who has to choose the next movie and early bed times whenever they can swing it.
From a Michelob Ultra and 4 words in a bar to a house, pets, and a life together, Taylor and Brian have built a love for the ages.
