How We Met

Back in April 2015, Tay came down to visit a friend—not expecting to meet someone who would completely change her life. At the time, she wasn’t looking for anything serious, having just come out of a toxic relationship.

But after a few days of deep conversations, shared laughs, and realizing how much they had in common, Tay and TJ felt an instant connection.

Even when Tay returned to Toronto, the two kept talking every day. As fate would have it, she was planning to move to Sarnia soon—and they were both excited to see where this connection might lead.

⸻Our First “Date”

May 8th, 2015 — the day TJ picked Tay up in Woodstock. What Tay didn’t know was that TJ had a surprise planned: a family BBQ. Yes, for their very first “date”!

It could’ve been awkward, but it somehow just felt right. While TJ and his dad went on a beer run, Tay ended up having a long chat with Tammie (which included a few laughs and probably a few too many stories 😂).

From that day on, they were pretty much inseparable—fishing trips, backroad drives, and many fry truck dates under the bridge.

⸻A Funny Memory

One day, after grabbing fries under the bridge, TJ took Tay for a drive—where he found a good dirt road to drift on (he was into that at the time). Tay, mid-poutine, suddenly got a “crunch” that definitely wasn’t from the fries… turns out, drifting kicks up more than just dust!It’s one of those ridiculous, real-life moments that perfectly sums them up: a little wild, a lot of laughter, and always together.

⸻The Proposal

Fast forward to Christmas 2017, at the Carron Family Dinner. TJ had been secretly planning something big. When dinner was called, he asked Tay to get up to eat. She tried to wait (his family is huge), but he insisted. As she stood, he got down on one knee and asked her to spend forever with him.

⸻Where We Are Now

Nearly 11 years later, they’ve grown through everything—together and individually. Tay is now a full-time junior tattoo artist at a shop that feels like family. TJ has gone back to finish school to open up more opportunities for the future. They’ve built a home, loved many fur babies, shared countless adventures (big and small), and through all the ups and downs, one thing has never changed: They choose each other—every single day.
