Taylor and Rhett met at KU and began dating in April 2021 during Taylor's junior year of college and Rhett's second year serving in the Armed Forces at Fort Leavenworth, KS. The two began the journey of navigating college, work, and where their future dreams may take them.

Towards the end of Taylor's senior year of college, Rhett left Kansas to attend the Midwest Technical Institute in Illinois to start his dream career of becoming a welder! The idea of dating long distance did not sit well with the two, so they decided that Taylor would come to Illinois for the summer. Right after graduation (no, quite literally, directly after she walked the hill) she packed up and left with her Prince Charming in a loaded down Toyota RAV4.

What was supposed to be just a summer, quickly turned into moving into their first apartment, adopting their dog Lou, and both starting their dream jobs. Well you could say that escalated quickly! The saying "When you know, you know" stands true in their book. With the support of both the Magee and Martin families, they began navigating their new life together in Illinois.

Now, Rhett enjoys listening to the chronicles of a fourth-grade teacher and Taylor attempts to understand all of the welding descriptions patiently explained to her. They have been enjoying lots of time with their pup, frequent trips to visit all of their family, their new-found hobby of pickle ball, and spending as much quality time together during this new season of life as possible!
