Collin and Taylor met in their intro to philosophy class freshman year of college. Collin claims to have been interested in Taylor for a bit before making a move, but Taylor doesn't really remember noticing him much before their first conversation - other than noticing that he was always right on time with moments to spare before class started.
The day they met could have been straight out of a romantic comedy. They were discussing Descartes' Discourse on Method, and Collin was being grilled with grueling philosophical questions from their professor. Collin said, (direct quote), "Somebody else want to take this one?" with a chuckle. The whole room laughed, and their professor said (again, a direct quote), "If you get up and tag someone, they have to answer it." Then, in what felt like slow motion, Collin got up from his front-row seat, conveniently right next to the door, walked to Taylor's seat, and tapped her shoulder. Taylor's response was a heartfelt, "I hate you."
Collin saw his chances plummet a bit right then, but by some divine plan, Collin somehow still had the courage to wait outside to talk to Taylor after class, and Taylor wanted to find him to apologize. They walked out of the building together, exchanging contact information and talking like they had known each other for forever, or at least for more than five minutes. Collin asked her to be his date for a fraternity event that wouldn't happen for another three weeks; the above photo is from that very same fraternity event. To this day, Collin's confidence never ceases to amaze Taylor.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
