It was the night before Taylor's first law school final. Splayed out over a contracts textbook, she didn't notice Mirko at all, who was also studying a table beside her in the basement of the law school library. In classic Taylor-form, she spilled coffee over her laptop keyboard, and the screen went black. Taylor started crying, and Mirko looked over and somehow was attracted to that.
A little over a year later, Taylor and Mirko find themselves left alone at a table in the law school commons area after the mutual friend that had brought them to the table left. It was awkward. Mirko asked Taylor if she skied. Taylor boasted to skiing abilities that were yet to be found. Mirko, again, was attracted to her. Taylor, again, was mortified.
Some weeks go by and Taylor and Mirko are at the local watering hole: The Dark Horse. They drink, they chat, they kiss. The young relationship begins.
Law school comes and goes. Graduations are celebrated and the beginning of rapidly changing lives are dreaded. The young relationship ends.
Mirko and Taylor both agree, while that relationship was fun, exciting, and full of love, "Part I" was missing critical pieces that are required of a committed and lasting marriage. When the two found each other again, they got back together with the one thing that was truly missing from Part I....intentionality. "Part II" has had the same fun; the same adventure; and the same love. But even better is that Part II has added in devotion, sacrifice, and work.
From conquering mountaintops, to windy riverbends, Mirko and Taylor's adventure has been nothing short of passionate and fun. Mirko and Taylor moved to Poncha Springs, Colorado in June of 2022. When they were walking around a local thrift store in Salida, Taylor picked out a little card with a quote by Walt Witeman that stuck out to her:
We were together. I forget the rest.
