The Meet

Our love began with the use of our finger tips. One boring Saturday afternoon quickly became a day that changed our lives forever.   On October 8th, 2022 we matched together on a dating app called BLK. After some casual conversation, that eventually lead to the exchange of numbers, our love journey was set off into the sunset.   We quickly became acquainted with each others stories and the similarities we shared amongst each others lives. For starters, Taylor is a Pisces, born on March 11th, who is big on zodiac signs. She was astounded to find out that Jalin is a Leo whose birthday is on August 18th. She then shared that her son, Mason (with an o) is also a Leo whose birthday is on August 14th. This then surprised Jalin, who has a cousin who is also named Masen (with an e) whose dad is also a Pisces born on March 12th. Both Taylor and Jalin's cousin (Dad of Masen) are born 1 day apart.   This was only the beginning of the many very wild coincidences that were linked on that beautiful October day.   After having more conversation, Taylor agreed to meet Jalin the night of October 8th to go for dinner at Yard House, a restaurant within the DFW area. After a heated debate on whose car was faster, it was settled that Jalin would pick Taylor up for dinner. What Jalin didn't know is that he would be waiting in the car for almost an hour after the agreed meeting time.   Eventually, we made it Yard House where we sat and continued our conversation that up until this point was strictly virtual. As our food and drinks were delivered to the table and we began to eat, Jalin decided to start eating without saying his grace. This sparked a frown from Taylor who reminded him that God comes first in all that we do and that includes eating, meaning Jalin needed to say his grace.   After we finished dinner, Jalin mentioned that he had a surprise waiting for Taylor. In his mind, they were on the way to see the mesmerizing night sky and beautiful views of DFW. In Taylor's mind, this was the moment she thought she was going to be kidnapped. She hesitantly agreed and discovered the true reason for the surprise and was able to discover a new view of the DFW area. It was cold that night, so Jalin lent Taylor his jacket before we both agreed it was better to continue the conversation in the car. The rest of the night went just the same.

The Move In

Not to say that we knew this would be a forever thing but we had a very strong understanding that this is exactly what it was. Jalin was moving out of his old apartment and decided he was ready to move the relationship to the next level. He asked Taylor to move in with him. This was a conversation that wasn't surprising as we both had a similar conversation for many weeks before the official ask. Needless to say, on February 2nd, 2023 Jalin, Taylor and Mason, were all living under one roof and a new chapter in life's journey with each other.   During that year there were many ups and downs, road trips, dates, and all sorts of inclusive fun. We fought scorpions and spiders, we traveled back and forth to Taylor's home town of Tyler, TX, we did many kid activities with Mason and overall had a very extraordinary first year of living together. It wasn't long until we moved into our next place, a house in Little Elm, TX.

The Proposal

On July 27th, 2024, Jalin had asked Taylor to be his wife. She said yes! Leading up to this day had been one of the most stressful times for Jalin. He took the time to thoughtfully plan to what he considered the "Greatest marriage proposal of all time." It started with the idea that the best gift anyone can receive is time, and Jalin knew that full and well. On April 6th, 2024, Jalin began to record and document all of the events that happened leading up to the proposal date. He recorded the first meeting with the jeweler to design the ring. He recorded all the events that Taylor, Mason and Jalin attended together. He recorded his time away from her on vacation as he attended a bachelor party for <a href="https://www.theknot.com/us/tobi-adeleye-and-olatolu-afolabi-may-2024" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Olu</a> in Cancun, MX. He recorded the holidays in between and the trips that were taken including Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Houston. And of course he recorded the actual proposal. After calling a venue to setup a screening that included this video Jalin was making and that venue not working out he turned to Taylor's family for all the help he needed to make this the perfect proposal. He was able to get most of her closest family members and his own friend-mily, to attend the proposal hosted by her Aunt Brittany. After setting up a screen, projector, chairs, tent and lighting, it was time for the big ask. After showing a very heartwarming video full of our favorite moments, on one knee Jalin asked Taylor to marry him. It was the happiest day of our lives and we can't wait for the next chapter.
