Taylor and Austin's families have been friends for years. They grew up together playing games in the yard, swimming at family pools and going to school together. Austin was a year younger than Taylor in school but they saw each other regularly throughout the elementary, junior high, and high school days. It wasn't until Taylor's Senior year of high school that they began to really hang out and talk more often. They were part of the same friend group so they spent a lot of time together. They began dating in December of 2012 and that following May Taylor graduated. She began school at ONU for pharmacy and to play basketball while Austin finished his Senior year playing football, basketball and running track. They continued their relationship and when Austin graduated he started at Rhodes State College for Nursing in August of 2014. With both of them being in Ada, it made it easy for them to see each other. Fast forward 4 years later and Austin is down on one knee with the perfect ring (and cupcakes!) asking Taylor to marry him!!
Austin's graduation from nursing school was on May 3rd, 2017. Taylor had been nagging Austin (like usual) trying to figure out when he might be popping the question. She was for sure that it would be during the summer. But Austin had other plans. Taylor's family and Austin's family all went to his graduation and then went back to the Dumbaugh house for pizza and to celebrate Austin's accomplishments. Everyone was in the basement when Austin came up to Taylor and asked her to help him get the pizza. The two of them went upstairs and Austin went to grab something before leaving. When he came out of the back room Taylor noticed that he had a Sara Sweets cupcake box in hand! She was so excited because 1. She loves dessert and 2. Those gourmet cupcakes are to die for! She walked over to Austin and he asked her to open the cupcake box where in purple and white icing she read "Will You Marry Me?" When she looked down she saw Austin on one knee asking her once again to marry him. She was so excited and began to cry tears of joy! They went downstairs to surprise her family and enjoy such a special day!!
